Morning- Went out about 10. Was pretty chilly today. But feels nice considering that it's 100+ F. in the summer..... Ewww just makes me feel sick......... But great run! I wanna start focusing on the title, and target that I want, and need! I am really really wanting a running scholarship! I wanna work for it! And I know that I am going to have to improve a lot more in order to get one! So now that's one of my new motivations! :)

Morning- Went out with Abel, Krenshaw, Mike, and David! Felt pretty nice, and smooth! I like running with these guys! They make it fun! We see coach and wanting to talk to him.... So we run to the school, since he is doing teacher stuff... So we stop by and talk a little, and then!!!! We get Paul, and he joined our little gang! And that's when it started to get really crazy! Like almost crazier than me! So a lot.... But anyways.... We ran back the pond park. Felt great, but I just wish our team could be there for some moments that are super funny! :)

Afternoon- 4 miles with the team. Feels nice to be back in school, but really long day in school. I felt pretty great during the run actually. I felt amazing! It was great! But next week the real work starts! So that is could! I am playing a basketball game, and I totally mauled this kid, but I got hit in the process... But I got hit in the calve, and now it just kills.... I hope it doesn't hurt tomorrow... Did some core, and lifting today. Felt good to actually lift, and work hard!

Afternoon- Vertical test today! I jumped 20 inches... Which is pretty bad... But I am super tight, and sore right now... Run today was something different. I am just going to think of it as summer training. Like the same format... But I am going to work at it everyday! Give it my best! And all! That's all I ask of myself now... No more, "I wasn't going all out, I didn't dig deep enough, I wasn't going hard enough, I was only going 95%...." NO MORE!!!!!!! I AM SICK OF ALL OF IT!!!!!!!! NO MORE!!!!!!! TIME TO CHANGE NOW! I am going to just tell myself to suck it up! Really?!?! Can I give more?!? Answer is always yes I Just have to find it! Just thinking last night the way my calve was hurting... If it would hurt like that tomorrow.... Reminded me soo much of my Achilles tendon being all jacked up... And thought to myself... Did I not learn the lesson the first time?!? Or do I need another one?!? And I thought, and thought.... Nothing came to mind... Until finally after hours, and hours of thinking.... It's how much I love running, how much I love having the wind blow in my face, how much pain I can cause myself beyond human! It's how much work I put in! So called, "Going the extra mile!" It's the people that honk at me, or give me the T-Bird! I love it all! I don't care what people say! Why do you run?!?! Well guess what!!! I run because I love IT!!!!!!!! More than you! More than anything else in the world! I am never going to quit, because of some injury, or because of what people say... It's stupid what people say these days..... I am just going to say it straight forward right now! When I started running I hated it! Like more than cats! It sucked.... But guess what?!? I pulled through, and guess what it did to me, and my speed?!?! I went through the roof, the sky, and beyond space!!! I NEVER thought I could become this fast, or become this kind of person! I kept going at it, year after year! Even though I have run 3 years... It's really time to change! I just realized something... Just thinking out loud.... That I can only worry about myself... I can only control what I do. I just have to ask myself the serious question: Did I give it my best? Do I truly know what that means? Or am I thinking I am?!? I honestly don't know... But I can tell who ever is out there.... That I will become one of the fastest runners in high school! And I AM going to SET HIGH GOALS! That push me beyond what is required... I don't care if it's setting a world record, or even coming in last place at some random race! I don't care! If I gave it my all, and pushed through, and did my best! I can move on! Man, this is like a race entire.... Guess it's time to wrap it up with a bow on top. What it comes down to is, "Who is willing to work harder, and have the most guts!?!"

Morning- Went running with Krenshaw, Abel, Mike, Cam B., Jake B., Byron, and BIG D (David), and I! Went towards green springs from 2450 park. Felt pretty good. Was pretty chilly at the start of the run. But warmed up a little after going to a while. Went to Megan's house with the boys. Pretty fun.

Afternoon- 3 mile warm up, and cool down total mileage. And 2 mile work out. 2X1000's With 3 minute recover. Was supposed to hit 3:40ish. And first one was 3:12 oops! And then next one was 3:44. So pretty much the time I was supposed to hit. I have to say that it was pretty easy... But the intensity will increase, and will get faster as we go on!!! Not super tough, but pretty good work out! I love work outs! This one felt really great! Pretty much the entire time Abel, Jason, and I were all within the same 3 feet of each other. And Paul right behind! I hope it stays like that the entire season! That would be LEGIATE!

Afternoon- Went out on Mustang trail! And I saw nooo Mustangs driving.... What the heck?!?! But I am starting to actually like trail running each time I do it more! Like actually run on them. Works the form really well. Felt pretty well, and I have learned to just focus, and get in the zone when I run most of the time to help with whatever I need help with. And as of now! I am going to GROW MY HAIR OUT!!! Until state! So it reminds me of what I want!!! And when the time comes for a short time when I race at state I shall have a sick mo-hock, or a beast mullet! :) So whatever one I get will help me race! Because I am going to say," Flame on!" Afternoon- Nice and good 4 miler! Just windy... But nevertheless it shall be worse tomorrow by the weather right now!!! It's time to learn more about running! My calve is kinda bugging me... But I will ice, and stretch it out. Did some nice old striders! And did weights after! Mike Finch!!! Man, he is some tough kid! 11 pull ups! Beast!!! Considering he weighs 190, and is 6"5! He is HUGE MAN! Just kidding! He's smaller than that, but still beast! We did a pull up challenge, and I got 5! Yeah that's right 5!!!! Well today we were supposed to do some interval stuff... But too windy, and by the looks of it.... Not soo good weather tomorrow! Oh and basketball game fore 10 minutes that I showed up for! 0 POINTS AGAIN!!! OH YEAH!!! Miss all my free-throws! But I still got like 5 steals, with a great foul of my favorites! I call it the sucide! I clash bodies with someone going in for a lay-up!!! It's soo beast!

Afternoon- Ran the Koesion test thingy. And I ran a 400 flat the first one. Which was great! But the second one was just hidous.... I just didn't speed up like I was supposed too.... I took off way to slow.... And even if I would have been closer to abel, I should have gotten 400 meters that last lap too! GRRR! I ran 765 meters, which is equal to a 2:06 800..... Blah............. Not even close to what I want, but hey that's a pretty good time for this time of the season! Next time I get a chance to run something related to the 800, or it really all out. I shall give it my all!!! :) I am going to come back with VENGANCE! I promised Abel he that will be his only time to do that! :) Too actually beat me!

Morning- Went out with Mike, Abel, Krenshaw, Byron, and David! So nice group! And guess who we saw on our run!?!? James!!! Mike was freaking out! Guys it's JAMES!!! It's James! Ok Mike! But then we started to follow him, and we started to catch up, and he stretched for a second. And then we ran with him for about 1.5 miles. Which was pretty cool! Then we flipped it, and started our tempo. I was with Abel, and Byron for the first 5 minutes, and then I fell off a little... And the gap just grew bigger, and bigger... Then with about 4 minutes left... I told myself not again! Come on Matt YOUR better than this thinking in my head! So I start gaining ground on them where I should be, and boom.... I made the wrong turn.... And was thinking I was going the right way.... So I ran for about 200 meters... And realized that I went the wrong way, and by the time I was on the right road again... The tempo was over.... But it was good! I learned a few things on this run today! Mike really likes to run with James, and that if I actually visualize things in my head, and talk to myself into it, then I can do anything! And I do better at whatever I was doing, such as work outs, racing, tempos etc. But it's like I have to argue with myself mentally! That's what I did at region! I would argue with myself! And I think of it as a big dude... Like someone that's telling me to slow down, or it hurts too much (something like that!). And I think to myself that I can make it hurt more! So I knocked him down, and he gets back up, and each time it gets harder to knock "The Dude" down! Man, thinking about it gives my the chills! :) But going up the back stretch up at Region I wanted to die.... But "The Dude" was like might as well stop now! And I was like no!!!!!!! So I knock him down, and he gets right back up, and I knock him down again!!!! Just wanting him to stay down! And over time I am just pounding "The Dude" in the ground, and just yelling at him, "STAY DOWN!" And finally! I get sick of it! And I give him one great knock down, and he doesn't come back! Cause I finished the race knowing I gave it my all!!!! WHOA!!!!! Huge story! That's going on the front cover of the newspaper! But for reals... That's what I realized today. If I do that I can do ANYTHING!!!! DUN DUN DUN!!!! So next time I struggle all I gotta do is talk myself into it!!! I think I am almost golden! All I need now is a little more confidence in myself! And I will be "UNSTOPABLE!" I mean "Un-Merge-Able!" Haha! Oh and we headed back to where we started, and Byron had to use the bathroom so we had to extend a little..... And I got lost so.... Yeah..... Great run for today! Practice is going to get more intense by the week! >:D

Afternoon- 1.5 mile warm up. And 1.5 mile cool down. 3x1000's on the track! I am starting to like this stuff already! Just knowing whats coming up! I learned a great lesson today! That I just need to set a GOAL in work outs, and races! Work to come to that GOAL. If it's controlling the pace, or just killing it. Or hitting a certain time. That's my new GOAL! Just do what I am supposed to do! If I have to push to get my goal then let it be! If I have to puke after a work out, or race let it be! If I have to slow down, and relax let it be!  But times were 3:34, 3:29, and 3:19! So I kept dropping, except I was supposed to hit 3:22's..... So the only one I hit right was the last one.... But nevertheless! Might as well correct it now, and get it right next time! Goal for next week: Hit the right times on this work out. And work on controlling my pace! Lifted today! I feel soo STRONG!!!! And BUFF! I talk soo much crap! It's funny, when I think about it! Cause I really talk a lot of it! Well great day today! I felt rather excited for the work out today! I was cheering that we were going 1000's!!! HAHA! I never do that! Something has changed in my life that makes me VERY HAPPY! I love it! :)

Afternoon- We went out to some trail! And the first half of the run I just wanted to die.... But I just kept pushing through the sluggishness... I felt pretty bad.... But once we got to the top, which was an amazing sight! I was breathing really hard, and then like 2 minutes later normal breathing.... Weird I know? I need to work on my breathing... And I couldn't even breath on the way up... But on the way back, I felt amazing! I got this HUGE aderline rush, which felt amazing! And I was positive! I had some kind of race in my head so I kept speeding up to the front of the group! Really not needed right then, but still! I have not had the chance to run in 4 days! So I might as well get back fast! I will hopefully recovery ALL the way over the weekend, which I am thinking! And I will be ready to run some tough work outs! :) Great run!

And the last mile was about 5:54ish.... And last .25 was 1:30. So alright work out. I just am not going to stress out about it, and just be ready to roll Monday! David ran really well.

And I am thinking it as a race (is that bad)? But I wanna be prepared to push hard! :) I think having the time I was sick has let me rethink my life, running, and school. How I want to progress in life! How I want to become a great runner, and person! I just need to embold it! We talked about random stuff on the run, and kept on hitting people's elbows (hahaha!!). SO funny for me! But no more of it! So I enjoyed it, while I could! I am going to kill the work out tomorrow!!!! But did some nice striders after the 3 miler. So pretty good day! Morning- We did this fundraiser run for Talen Vaughnn. So it's for a great cause! And we basically went out hard, and gave it a hard push. I felt really good! So I just started out really fast, and was leading for about 600 meters. I wanted the rest of the boys to get into their pace ASAP! So I just took off fast! And about 800 meters in I just told myself to relax, and start to go my pace at "LT". So I started, and I actually felt amazing throughout the whole race! I even had a great kick into going into 5th! I have not ran this entire week, except yesterday, and the week before half of it.... So it's been kinda a rough 2 weeks with little runs in it..... But I think I did really well for not running in a while!!! :) Paul, and Colton were only 25 seconds infront of me, which I thought they would be by 45! So I actually did really good today! I was pretty happy with my time, and placing! But if I was back to full health, and recovered all the way then I probally could have taken 3rd, or so. But great work-out/race!

Afternoon- Holy Cow Pie!!! Just kidding! Wanted to say that! But this run was pretty tough! 8 miler with 30 minute tempo at AT (or LT) pace. And I was supposed to hit around 5:49-5:55. And I didn't even hit close to that.... The first mile I threw down a 5:55ish. And then the next 20ish minutes I threw down around 5:58ish-6:10. Not my range.... But I was happy with what I did and gave in this work out today! I gave it my all today, even though I didn't hit my right times! But it wasn't a bad work, nor a good work out. Kinda in the middle! But first week really coming back into! I feel back already! And I am starting to get really tight in the legs! I was really positive through out the whole run, and the tempo went by really fast for some reason! Every time I would start to panick, or stress out. I would just take a deep breath in my nose, and then release. Kept me calm! So that's good! I also just enjoyed nature as I ran my tempo. Didn't even stress about the time!

Afternoon- 7 miles total! Ran over to old man hills! with 1x800, 2x400, 4x200's. Pretty nice work out! Wasn't killer, but was pretty hard! Like you had to push to do it right! The 800 was pretty nice, and quick! I didn't want to start too fast out on the work out. So I just kinda went a little behind the head group (time 2:46). And then 2x400's. I could start the pain coming a little. And the first one went pretty well hitting 1:15. Pretty good time on hills. And then the second one required a little more pushing, but hit it at a 1:16 (almost 1:15 again). And then the 4x200's... Oh my! I realized something about sprinting! Take out fast, and go faster! But the first one was pretty quick, and getting used to the change speeds. And I ran a 36 seconds? But the next one I just took off really fast, and Abel was like Matt you know we got 2 more? And I told him straight back that I have been holding back (I just didn't want to admit to it) so I went all out for a little, and got my drive back for a while! Like the feeling! Feeling like I push hard, until I really go harder! I tell myself to dig, and I dig deeper! But the last 2x200's were pretty nice! Times on 200's according to my timing were 35ish, 36ish, 35ish, and 34ish? But I got 36, 36, 36, and 35. So pretty consistent! :) Good work out! Legs are tired for sure from this hard week of hard work, and determination! :) Had weights too! Almost forgot! Those went well!

Afternoon- No morning practice today. So I slept in a lot! I slept 9 hours last night! Havn't slept that long all week! But felt pretty great today! I enjoyed today a lot! With recovery day from all the hard, and long runs this week! 3 miles with striders! Pretty nice, and easy. We were going like 9 minute pace for the first 2 miles! HA! That's not even close to what the group usually does! But I enjoyed it very much! We went around spreading flyers for tomorrow's race event for the fundraiser! And we also did striders, which felt amazing! Work on form pretty well! And now I am on my way to do 6 hours of homework.... But great week!

Morning- Went out to the Dixie State college. And ran a fundraiser 5k for the tempo today! Started out pretty well. I just need to control my pace, and hold it more. I thought I would be cool, if I wore my freshman flats... Nope! Cause the material on the bottom of the shoe is nearly gone... And about 1 mile in the tempo/race. My arch on my left foot just randomly popped, which hurt like heck! And I had to heel strike for a little to get the pain away.... But I had a pretty good kick at the end, and I was pretty positive about the tempo/race. I had a great mind set! And I even focused on just having a smile! :) It was kinda weird.... Cause as I started to feel the pain come I ran by this car that the front of the bumper looked like a smiley face! So that kinda reminded me of being positive, and have a smile! But pretty good run! The course is longer than a 5k.... But right after the race my left calve started to cramp like crazy. So when I got home. I rolled, and stretched like crazy! I will take care of this now so it doesn't turn into something bad! Yikes!

Morning- Nice and easy 3. I was ready for the time trial after school. I am trying something new with my loudness! :)

Afternoon-  Was ready for the time trial, and just wanted to get it done! I felt amazing before the time trial just a little nervous, but just told myself to relax. And we start out the first lap, and Abel pulls ahead and I am barely behind him, and I hit 63 (1:03) first lap not too bad, but I need to make it 59, or 1:00 flat. I need to hit that time in order to go sub 2! And the second lap we slowed down a lot on the back stretch... And I just started speeding up the last 200 meters. And I started going, and randomly Archie flys by me at full speed! Pretty great kick for the kid! But I just need to keep the speed on the 2nd lap! But it's on alright time for now! I was happy with it! And it was 2:10.54... Not bad, but a new P.R.!! :) But I learned that I just need to go full speed last lap! See how far I burn out, or finish!

Morning- Nice and easy 3 with the team. I am liking these morning runs! Nice, and easy! :)

Afternoon- 8 miler with 30 minute at AT pace (5:50-55?). But I was during very well the first 10 minutes and was well relaxed. And I ran with Archie for a while till he had to turn around. And then I started to fall off pace a little by not having anyone run next to me. And then the turn around. I flipped it weird, and lost all my speed... So it took me a little to get speed back... But then I saw Paul, and was chasing him for a while. And the last 10 minutes I just kept speeding up trying to motivate myself to get up to him, but I just convince myself... And I kept pushing, and pushing. And with about 2 minutes left I started up the little hill, and pushed that pretty hard. And I was going to catch Paul, but then we were done. I got further than last tempo! That's a good sign! But I was kinda discourage, because I should, and need to be with the head group as long as I can... But was 2nd one in weight room (Abel was first). And I told him about it. And then..... Lifting went by way fast! And it actually didn't hurt too much by surprise! And then I was benching, Abel, and I were spotting each other. And he said,"Put on ten more." So I did and then I did the same. And I didn't know how much it was.... It was a plate (135 lbs)!!!!! I was dying.....  Cause I didn't know it was that much weights.... But pretty good day. Ok!!! This is when the story starts! So I got home, and felt really tired, and discouraged even more from practice.... But I had a feeling to meditate like we did at, before Region IX (9) XC (Cross Country). And I started out visualizing myself just on a slow jog. Just like warm up pace. And then I just kept visualizing that, until I got back to the place I started. And then I was doing some stride outs. And slowly jogged back. Picturing myself taking out perfectly, and getting in a good placing. And I then did some agilities. And I got to the starting line at the Pine View Invite. And I took out perfect in the top 5, and worked my way too the front on the back stretch. And the first lap went by 61 (1:01). And I then sprinted the turn. Then I took out faster on the back stretch, and I then started to sprint the last 200 meters. And the last 150 I sped up, even more, and 125 even more! And by the last 100 meters I was at FULL SPEED! Going as hard as I could with every last ounce of energy in me! And I finish the race with a time of 2:01! And then I slowly opened my eyes, and I slowly got up, and.......... I found my new drive.... It's forcing myself to do something. Like at Region I forced myself to win the race. And now I am going to force myself to go 2:01! And in order to do that I need to run work outs right! So that's it! That's my story! I also had another feeling to say this one on the blog... So all of you reading this I hope you enjoyed this true story that happened today. And I invite you to try it someday. It certainly helped me. I hope it will help you!

But this time I wasn't as tired! That's a great sign! Just a another confidence booster! I love these kind of runs! I just enjoyed it the entire time! But great week so far! Afternoon- 3 miles total for warm up and cool down. Work out was 8x200's at race pace. so 32's. Pretty nice. First one was 34. And the next was 34. And the third one was a 32. And after that I just got into the groove. And hit 32's rest of the way. So 34, 34, 32, 32, 32, 32, 32, and 32! So pretty chill work out. Not too tough. Had equal recovery basically. And then around the 6th one I could tell people were getting a little tired... So I just tried and relax. I really worked on my form, and breathing really hard mentally! I had such good breathing today! I learned, if I work my foot work with my breathing then I stay more relaxed, and then I know I can go harder! Cause I stay relaxed! Had weights after. Those felt pretty good! I am still sore from other work outs. But I stretched, and rolled today! Good day!

I felt pretty amazing during, and after the tempo. I kinda extended the time a little, because I didn't look at my watch for a while oops! But I went an extra 1:30... But that's ok. Cause that averaged my pace out a little, and I averaged about 5:47-5:52. Off of goal time. But I stay positive, and I kinda reminded myself of something. Just go all out, and see how long I can hold on! A lot of people will hold back just a little to speed up at the end, but there is no point in really doing that, because there is too much ground to make up! So that's why you go all out, and see how long you can hold on, and push the rest!

It's a feeling I never want to feel again that all I know. But I hit a 1:12, 1:11, 1:16, and 1:13. And the 200's were 37, and 36. Very good work out. But gotta work on stick'in it to the man!

Afternoon- After hiking for about an hour, and doing 2 and a half hours of yard work. I went I did my 3. I went pretty slow at first, but by the end I was going 7:00 minute pace. Not bad. But on the third one I had to start pushing, and I was breathing hard. And hit a 3:20 barely.... But then I hit a 3:19 the last one. I was glad just to get done. And then we had the 2x300's. And we waited till we fully recovered from the 1000's, and then hit a 44 the first one, and then 46. Not too bad at the end of a work out. But that's the point of the work out. Run fast to get you tired, and then dig like crazy to hit great times! That's how it's done in a race! On cool down I was pretty tired from the work out, which is great! And I got the burning feeling back again! :)

Woke up at 6:45. I felt ready, and confident for the half marathon today! I just kept focusing on getting ready for the race. Ate breakfast, and then Byron picked me up. Waited for the race for a while. Did a 1.5 mile warm up. And I felt ready! But a little nervous, and my heart rate was 60 this morning... Guess I was nervous!

Race Report-

Took off pretty well with the group. Just told myself to relax, and then the first mile was like 5:39. I just tried and stay with the group, and then they all took off. So I was with Paul for a little. And mile 3 I hit at 17:51. Goal time was sub 1:20. So I was on pace, and was ready to push at the end. And then we started down into Hell's hole. With lots of roll coasters... I was like I run in here all the time! So that got me going a little, and 2 people passed me, and then 2 DH kids passed me (Josh, and Jaren). Then at mile 5 I was still on pace, and Coach Holt ran with me, and gave me some motivation. I later then passed the 2 guys that passed me, but the 2 DH kids were still ahead of me.

After hitting the bridge I was getting back into gear, still hitting my pace. And I was making ground on the DH kids. I started to feel the pain, and knowing not to stop. So I was focusing on my form. And I could see someone making ground on me quickly. So I used that as motivation to keep going, and not get passed. And after a mile or two. Guess who it was?!?! It was Nick's Dad! I was like wow! He is one fast guy! And I ran with him for a while. Catching the DH kids. And at a point all 4 of us were stride for stride. Which was pretty cool.

After hitting mile 8. I wanted to start getting done, and knew I still had a lot of race to go. I was hitting my pace, but right about here is when I fell off a little on my pace. And I told myself to pick it back up, but it was just so hard keeping pace for that long. And I was like tempos are easy compared to this! So hitting mile 9. I was still with the group of 4 (including me). And I was leading for a while, because the DH kids would stop at every aid-station and get water. So I took advantage of these oppurtunties, and I would speed up just a touch. And it got them scared so them would quickly start sprinting back up to pace, which cost them a lot in the end! Suckers!

Hitting mile 9.5ish. I really started getting tired, Legs were numb, and my body was because of the tempature. Good weather though today. And I was still with the group, until mile 10ish. That's when I started to really loose my pace, and fall off... It was just so hard to keep going. And then this HUGE hill came out of no where... I really pushed up this hill, and got some ground on them again. I wanted to run with the group again, but they just kept speeding up. I just couldn't match their pace... My pace was really suffering now. I really started to dig a lot now. Hitting mile 10 I was hitting "the wall".... I really kept on trying harder, and harder, but no effect was happening....

Mile 11. My legs locked, and my whole body was numb. I could barely move my legs... This part really hurt me, because that's when the group took off, and since my legs locked. I couldn't catch up... The gap grew bigger, and bigger. I was going pretty dang slow on this part... Mabey at the fastest hitting a 6:50..... I was going sooo slow.... But I just wanted to finish right now.... I kept looking at my watch. Counting down, until I finished! :)

Mile 12- I could tell I was getting close to finishing. And I started to get my legs back slowly. And getting back to pace. And then I really started digging here, just wanting to get done with this! So I think I am done. And boom! I see Coach Holt yelling my name. And that gave my hope quick! And he said," I want to see a kick! Only 400 meters to go!" So I started to pick up my pace. And I was going, until about 200 meters. So I reminded myself I was almost done. I kept going, and then boom I finished. I felt terrible.... Legs hurting, brain hurting, body frozen.... I was all numb, and cold.... I thought I was going to die.... This was by far the hardest, or one of the hardest things I have ever done. I am pretty happy with my results! No pity parties today! But I feel great now! After eating, and sleeping all day today! I decided to entry my race into my blog! And thinking over, and over. It was a good experience what running is really like! I hit a 1:22. I don't know seconds... But I think it was in the 30's. I was pretty happy, until I realized I was the last Varsity boy to finish... So that kinda got me bumbed, and still is. But I gave it my all. I guess some people are better at things in life than others! But I am still going to work hard!

This was a great experience. Got me thinking about how bad running can hurt. And thinking that I am a 800 meter runner in track. And I just ran a half marathon!!! All I can say is that 800 meters is sooo short.... So on the test thingy this Tuesday. I am going to just go all out! I don't care, if I burn out. I am going to run fast!!! I believe in myself after this experience. I am pretty happy with my time, and placing. Abel, and Paul are just soo dang fast! This is their first years both of them. And they are either faster, or the same speed as me. And I have been running for 3 years now! And boom they are just as fast in a few months, but I know why. They work super hard everyday. They have a desire to run fast! They are great kids, and I hope we just bond more as a team. So we have a unbreakable team bond! Let's go get that title boys! :)

The meet was cancelled, which I am really mad about!!!!! Krenshaw told me that at lunch. And I thought he was joking, cause that Krenshaw! But I will not be able to race, until the Pine View Invite...

Morning- Nice and easy 3.

Afternoon- Had to run early, because Abel, and I had to do some college stuff again.... And we ran 8xfire station hills. They were pretty hard, after the 5th one... But I kept a little behind Abel on each one. Then the last on we went super fast. And pushed beyond and crushing all of our times in last few we did! :) Great weather!

Morning- Went out with Dave, Abel, and Byron. We went on the turtle trail! It was super fun, because we just ran, and talked a lot. Talked a lot about other stuff, than usual. And we also went a little over, because we did not do our striders yesterday... So we added 1 mile. And we ran towards like a old river trail up stream. Lots of rocks, and sand. But it just rained, and so the sand was like mud, but just a tad dry. So pretty good terrain. I really just ran had no thinking going on really. But runs like these are why I love running, and just come to me. The last 2 miles we sped up to have a hard finish at LT pace. It was nice. I started out pushing the pace. And then Byron, and Abel pulled ahead a little, and I was pretty close to them. Just 25 meters behind for most of the way. And we don't know our pace, but probally would have been 5:25ish. or Faster. :) Good run!

Morning- 1.5 mile warm up. 4x1000's. With 2x300's fast! And Goal time for the 1000s were 3:19. I hit 3:20, 3:19, 3:19, and 3:20 (almost 19, not sure). Every single 1000 we started I would say reluntly crouched. It worked for me! I really work on my form always o the backs stretch. I could see my shadow. Oh dang! I have never seen anything better! Amazing knee drive, pumping arms like crazy, standing tall, head up, leaning! It really doesn't get any better than that! And I was very cheerful today! And I kept on saying goridous (spell check). And beautiful!! Good work out! I hit 42?, and 46 on the 300's. CRAP!!!!! Goal time wasn't 3:19... It was 3:14.... I was thinking of 2 weeks ago.... CRAP!!! I should hit myself in the face for that.... I might as well run the whole work out again....

Afternoon- After going on a little hike with my family. I went running, which I was dropped off at the double churches. And I felt a lot of abdominal pain.... So I stopped at the Rec. to use the bathroom. And then did some striders. Those were alright. Worked on the form! :)

Morning- Went out with the team at 8. Went running a 6 miler with 20 minute tempo at AT pace. Goal time was 5:49. Again didn't hit the goal time... But nevertheless! This is the best I have done to get to it! I average about 5:50-5:55. So by far the best AT tempo I have had. I usually struggle super bad on these. But they are getting to the point, it's just focusing on keeping the turn over to keep the speed going. It's rather interesting. There are 2 types of tempos. The point of running where your legs are going to fall off, or you think you are doing good, and really your off a lot.... I would rather have my legs fall off! :)

Afternoon- Started up by the dirt mile. I was going the usual loop, except of turning right. I kept going straight up to the gas station, and then I went on the trail up to grapevine. And then I ran until 1.8 miles. And then flipped it. So I was going back the way I came. But the shortened version. So 1.2ish miles.n And I then was right by the gas station by the round about, and I hear sirens like crazy! I see this cop go about 120 MPH around the round about and continue to go faster! I could hear the engine roar, like my voice when I get really angry! Conclusion's to this experience there was a really bad wreck on I-15, or he was chasing a criminal! Whether way, I was interested! This was probally the funniest run I have done by myself! So much advanture, and cool stuff!

That will be for tomorrow's work out! Times were pretty consistent, but has the sets went on times got faster, and faster.

Afternoon- Went running the small loop of the gas station. Good run! It's for sure getting hotter! :(

Next one Paul helped pace well hit a nice 1:44. 3rd one I started getting really tired hit a 1:46. Slowed down too much on the back stretch... 4th one I was really starting to dig here and hit a solid 1:44 almost :43. So pretty good work out!

Afternoon 3 miles nice and easy. I went pretty slow. But ran some laps at the elementry, and was dreaming about running the 800, and gradually sped up like crazy! So yeah that's how happens when I day dream! :)

But I was having to push a lot harder today than normal. Like on the cool down I had to really push myself on COOL DOWN! I felt a crazy stabbing pain in my side... 1.5 mile warm up, and 1.5 mile cool down. Weights after. I had to push even harder through theses. My allergies were bugging me, and I had a killer headache.... Hopefully I feel better tomorrow.... I have been thinking really weird about track.... Like I don't believe in myself as I used too..... Like the last 200 meters... It's certain thoughts in my head like," I can't do it, I will burn out, I don't want anymore pain!" Well.... I woke up ready to go! I ate a good breakfast. And I got to the high school early to watch/help with the meet. My event was 4th to last. So I had to wait for a long time before I raced... But I was just focusing on what I would do to prepare mentally. So I did my warm up pretty early. But it's all good, because I did a lot of stride outs to get ready too.

Race Report 800 meters-

I started out at a weird pace, but then got immeditaly into race pace after a few steps. Paul was next to me. He kinda cut me off at the start so I had to step one step in the other lane, and I had got back in front. Hopefully I didn't cut him off (sorry Paul).... But started out pretty good. I cut in, but then a bunch of kids cut in front of me, and cut me off... I was the back mid pack.... And I didn't want to work my way up, until the next lap so I just kinda relaxed on the back pack. But guys were clear out in lane 2, and 3. So I would have gone out to lane 4 to pass, and get in the front. But I came by the first lap about 1:02-:03. Not sure, but then I told myself this was my lap. And I took off a little faster to get the speed going again. Going around the back stretch I passed a few kids. And then I was at the 200 mark. Telling myself to go out loud. The kid next to me probally thought I was weird, but I am! And I started to kick and pass like crazy, and coming down home stretch I tried my best to rip the track out, and focus on my form. Only passing a few kids. I saw Abel pull ahead at the 200, and wanted to go up by him, but too many guys in the way... I then finished at a 2:07! That's a 3 second P.R.!! And I qualifyed for BYU! :) This race was the kind of race that I needed! Like it was a break through. And I now am going to aim for state! I know I can make it now!

Race Report 400 meter (4x4)-

I was a sub in for the 4x4. I was the first leg. And I started out fast and a good pace, but running this was not as bad as it used to be! Like it's easier now than ever! And I come down home stretch and boom! My blister on my pinky toe pops, and blood comes oosing out.... But I ran a 56.2 split! Not bad! But I will aim for a 55 next time, or faster! :) Good racing day!

Afternoon- Got on the bus for the meet. I didn't race for a while. And the ride wasn't very long so I ate just a little, because I thought I would be racing soon... Turns out it wasn't for another 2 hours so I was straving, and had no energy to run....

Race Report-

1,600 meter: I felt sluggish so to say, because I had not ate for like 6 hours.... I tried to get pumped, but the energy just wasn't there..... Learn from it, move on! Amen! But I started out pretty well at a 1:10 the first lap. And I thought I was speeding up on the 2nd lap. Not even close..... Came around the 2nd lap around 2:25 (1:15).  I could tell that I had no energy. It's like running on a tank of gas that's empty, just doesn't work. It's like having a car without gas.... You can't go anywhere! Besides pushing it! That's what I was doing pretty much..... That's unacceptable to me! Just straight up! That's barely on pace to break 5! I can do that in a work out!! But this is where it really hurt me..... My 3rd lap I came around at 3:44 (1:18).... That's slower than slow for me...... That's like a joke for me man..... HAHA! I even laugh now at it! But I just got straight up angry (P.O.)! So I just started sprinting as fast as I could. And ran the last lap at 4:52 (1:05)!  Not too shabby for the last lap! Because Abel, and Byron ran that exact same lap for the last! Nice start, nice finish, but no nice laps in the middle.... I will work on that! Learning from it, moving on baby! I wasn't really even that tired after the race too..... Like after I got my breath back! >:(

800 meter (medley)- I started out pretty good, and wanting to catch B- Whit from DH, and Jason Quinn from Dixie, but seriously.... They are just soo stinking fast man! But the first 200 I came by at 28, which is a bit fast. Slow I toned it down just by a litte. And then the first lap came around 1:02-:03. Not bad for a first lap! And then the curves were longer so that kinda messed up my pushing zones... But I tried pushing the curve, and the back stretch I slowed down too much. But not too much. And I was at 1:36 with 200 to go, and I started kicking, finished at a 2:09ish I guess. Not too bad. I was happy with the results. But Just gotta stay more relaxed on that 2nd lap. Like not get soo tensed up. That's for the last 200! :) But I like the 800! I was actually happy with it! But good experience! I talked to Brigham from DH after the race, and turns out he ran a 1:57!! Yikes! That's fast! Barely beating J.J. (Jason Quinn) from Dixie at a 1:58! That makes 4 sub 2's in Region 9 already in the 800! That's means I gotta run state times for sure! 2:01.09 here I come! :)

But I am learning! That's all I really can do from here. I just straight up turned my mind off, and just went with Krenny, until the last mile the kid took off and made about a 10 meter gap, nothing too big, but by the end I got him! :) So it's all good! Good job Krenny! Had weights, and plyos after! Those hurt for sure! Legs are fried, and tired for sure! I couldn't even jump super high on plyos! Race Report-

The gun fired. I started out in 1st/2nd, and was in the lead for about 250 meters! I was like why am I in the lead (there were super fast guys there running 4:35-40's, which I should be around). And I realized that we were just going super slow! The front pack came around the first lap at 1:12... But then starting the 2nd lap I started to pick it up, and I started to move up a little. Just starting to feel ready to move up. Came around 2:21-24. (1:10-:13). Again a little slower than what it should be... But then starting the 3rd lap I started feeling the pain come, and was starting to have to test my confidence. Which went pretty well this time! But I came around at a 3:39 (1:16-1:17).... Too slow again.... Then I told myself to go, and started to speed up a little, but just wasn't going too fast... Pain was getting worse. I get this really weird mental image, while in pain... Like my inner body is burning alive about ready to be devoured by fire! Pretty scary... I don't know why I have that in my mind.... But I like to show it up (the so called fire)! But came around the 200 meter wanting to start sprinting. I started to speed up, but nothing special... And I saw Casey, and a Cedar kid the last 125 meters. I wanted to pass them, because I told myself every point counts! So I actually started sprinting, and passed them both! :) At finished a 4:49.02. Almost 48's! But I should honestly be in the 4:30's! Learn from it! It was a 0.5 second P.R. so I really can't complain, but still.... I need to step it a bit, or so called, "Raise The Bar!" 2 mile cool down. Good race.

Afternoon- Coach decided to change the run a little. Because we have been working really hard these past couple of weeks. And so we went on a 8 miler easy (or so to say, without the giant hills!). But before we left, Both of our Coaches gave us some words of advice, and coaching! And it was more than coaching, it was pure inspiration about running, and getting better! It gave me the chills! It's just what I needed! I think our whole team needed it. I totally forgot about what a TEAM was, or meant too mean... Before I thought it was just other people... But for reals! People rely on me, and I rely on them! It's a two way trend! This talk really hit home for sure! But we went running on some run that I have never done! It's called,"Albino". Something like that (like the name for really white people). But the name has a story behind it! But there was a pretty beast hill, but I conquered the hill! Just another victory that I need! Good run! Had weights too! Those were good! We did a new work out excercise! It hurt! That's all I can say, and that Krenshaw is a beast at it!

Morning- Nice and easy 3. There were a ton of boys! That's good! Means we are getting better as a team! And everyone was super chatty, because of the 2 mile race somewhere that I don't know about! Yikes!

Afternoon- 1.5 mile warm up. 4x1000's, and 2x300's at F pace. First thousand I just wanted to go so I went without everyone else by like a second, or two. And I ran a 3:15 on that one... Goal time is a 3:11. Pretty off...  But then on the second one I ran a 3:16... Even slower... And I decided that I can tell the difference between running work outs and racing! Racing requires an all out energy push through out your body, physically, and mentally! And by the last 200 meters you can really start feeling the burn intensity of any race over 800 meters! And the last 100 meters I can tell, if I am sprinting all out, or just finishing. I can tell the difference, between pain, and just going fast! I will tell you where I am going with this! But the last 100 meters breath is just gone (out of the picture). Forget breathing, forget burning out, forget everything else! Just focus on beating that guy, or time! So in a work I should be doing close to the same thing by the end!! Am I having the same intensity feeling? The same burning, or even worse? SO, I decided to "Raise The Bar", and ran a 3:12 the third one, which was great! And I could tell I was working harder! And I still felt pretty great! And the last one! I told myself to stay on pace! I tried something new! Checking my pace every odd meters (100, 300, 500, etc.), but I could really start feeling that burning intensity, and I hit a 3:11 this one!!! :) Best times of the season, overall! And the 300's were alright times were :44, and :45. Not too shabby, but I should be around a 42-43! I got it down! Amazing work out! If this is what makes me FAST, or BETTER I am willing to do it from now on! And went on cool down 1.5 miles. Good cool down. Coach asked me, if I am truly ready to run a 2:04 by SUU! And I kinda hesitated... But I said, "Yes!" I am going to get faster than that baby! HOT DIGGITY! It's really time to "raise the bar"!!! Time to crush the 4x800 record!!! :) Weights were just amazing! I have never felt this good during weights, or during this work out! By far the best work out overall. It's kinda pointless to write this much about it... But sometimes I just have to express my feelings, and thoughts! Sorry world! But it's ME!

Like the 600 was 4 seconds slower, and the 400 was 2 seconds slower, but the 300 was at the same pace. And then the 200's and 100's were a lot faster. And here's the tricky part! Recovery was only 100 meters! That's it! Then boom, going again! Each time getting faster, and faster! Goal time was 1:35 (600), 1:05 (400), :47 (300), :27 (200), and :13 (100). 1:45 (600), 1:06 (400), :50 (300), :30 (200), :13 (100). Next set. I could for sure start feeling it now! 600 was slower than poop (poop is slow!!!) 1:54... 1:08 (400), :50 (300),  :30 (200), :14 (100). Then coach had the top 800 guys take a little break, while the top milers did another (Casey, Mike, and Byron). I really thought I was going to die another set... But the 600 was taken out so that made my mental picture better! But Coach said," I was too uptight." Which means I think too much in the brain, and not enough in the legs! Self note- Fix that now! Anyways... Last set 1:10 (400), :50 (300), :30 (200), and :13 (100) Byron ran a :14.00 on that and I got the same thing, but I was ahead of him by 0.1 at least... So 13.99, so to say... This was by far the hardest work out of the season speed wise! The recover isn't really a recovery to me. It's a run fast, jog 100, GO!! But hey it's the work out! I still feel pain, while typing now about... My brain hurts, my legs hurt, and my stomach is all jacked.... But on the cool down my quads felt like they were pulling right about my knee, which hurt. Like cramping like crazy... But good work out. Times were not met for some of them, but learning experience. Tough work out for SURE!

Morning- I woke up, feeling pretty good! Just thought, and visualized my race going perfect! And it usually does! :) I ate a good breakfast, and then my mom drove me to the high school to get on the bus. And then I arrived at the meet. Waiting for my race... I warmed up a little early, but I felt warmed up still. Then I did stride out, and agilities!

Race Report-

I was feeling confident up to the line. I was in lane 6, and had to stay their till the first 100, then cut in (I could go into lane 4 too, but started in lane 6). But I was ranked 12th in my heat time wise. And I was in the fastest heat. So I made it a goal to score some points, and qualify for state 2:01.09. But the gun fired, and everyone immediately started out at full speed. So I went with the other 3 guys in the group. And just ran out into lane 2 waiting to cut in. And I had 2 open windows at the 180 mark. I was about to get into the mid pack one, but then I thought to myself you don't belong there! Get up where you are meant to be! So I moved a little faster to get into the faster pack. And boom! Perfect placing! I came around the first lap around a 1:02 (62), and I thought to myself not bad for a first lap! And then I started working my way up, because I told myself 400 meters left! That's always the pushing point for me in any race over 800 meters! But I made the curve strong. And then on the back stretch I really started flying! I started my push, and caught up to the man pack. And then I got cut off from them going too slow, but I coasted off them for a little (50 meters), bad mistake... I should have gone around. And I learned that from this race! Go around! :) But then I started another push at about 175 left and started sprinting, and got my way to the very front, and then last 100 meters. Jason Quinn (from Dixie), and Kayden Starley (from Cedar) started taking out even faster at a death sprint, and I wanted top 3. I see Kayden, and Jason stride for stride, and then Jason takes off, and was gone. So I thought Kayden was in 3rd, and I wanted to pass him, and get a medal soo bad! But he was really in 4th, but anyways. All of this happened like in slow motion in my mind when it happened too. But every 10 meters the gap closed between Kayden, and me. And at one point I was breathing down his back. That's how close I was! And I wanted to pass him SOOOOO BAD! And about the last 5 meters... I really don't know what happened... But I kinda lost movement in the legs, and tripped myself, and taking down Kayden, and we both go down, both falling over the finish line, while the kids behind us coming in at full speed. Some of them tripped, and fell! I was kinda laughing in my mind at this point! That's how bad I wanted to pass this kid! Just pass him that's it! But everyone watching said, it was crazy, like nascar, a fist fight in a group... Comments all other the place! But after the race I felt just amazing! Except that's when the adrenaline stopped as much, and boom... My blister in the same spot just goes off, and hurting like crazy! With blood coming out... But looking back at this race right now! I have never had that much adrenaline in a single race. It got soo intense the passing of Kayden, the falling! It's all great! I love running, and love racing! I am happy for a P.R. But there is work to be done, and I can do better through hard training, and focus! These new work outs are really paying off for once! Greatest 800 of the year yet! I am really start to wondered what else I can pull out of the bag! :)

Morning- Nice and easy 3.

Afternoon- 4x1000's and 2x300's at F pace (fast). Goal time was 3:11. Today I hit all my times, a HUGE thanks for Coach Holt for helping! Times were 3:07, 3:08, 3:10, and 3:08. I was for sure working hard by the last one. Like I wanted to die! It was tough! First one was fresh, second one was getting ready, and 3rd was tough, and 4th was super hard. Thought one lap at a time. At the 300's were a little slower, but times were 47, and 46... But good work out. 3 mils total for warm up, and cool down. Weights after those were nice! :) Best times on 1000's too! :)

Times were 2:08 (800), 26ish (200), 2:12 (800) almost 2:11 (800), and then 57 almost 56 in the 400. This meet was for of a work out, like it was fast, but not all out racing. It was good! Glad it's done, and put into the bag! I am super excited for the meet this weekend! There is going to be some real fast guys there in the 1,600 (mile), and 800! I am super excited! And I am for sure ready for the 800! Going for state in the mile, and 800! I now know my pushing zones in the 800, just have to find that out in the mile! One lap at a time baby!! :)

Morning- Nice and easy 3. Felt ready to race.

Afternoon- We get to the meet, and I warmed up 2 miles. And I was in the 2nd fastest heat. With the fastest guy in at a 4:46ish... So I didn't really have anyone to pace me for state qualifying time (4:35). Got back from warm up. Felt good, did stride outs, and agilities. Felt ready to roll!

Race- I started out immediately fast when the guy fired, and got great positioning. I was in the lead for the first lap, and came by around 1:09. Some Cedar kid got in front of me, and I coasted off him for the second lap, and coming through at a 1:13 (bad mistake). And then the third lap I closed the gap, and then started to speed up a little, but not enough still behind the Cedar kid. And then came by at a 1:12...Started to really have to push  from here. And starting the last lap the Cedar just would not let me pass him... So I was in lane one, and he was in lane two. He started to cut me off. So I threw him a small elbow warning him, and he does it back. So we kinda boxed out for about 100 meters. And then I finally out kick him, and finishing the race I pushed it in to a 1:07. Nice finishing lap I would say. And I won my heat. So that went swell! New P.R., but I am not settling quite yet, and once I get state I will not settler there! I will never settle for anything! Goal not met on getting state, but this was a good building block towards state qualifying. Good race I would have to say! :)

400- I wanted to run the 400, and see what I could do. So I finally ran it after 10 heats of girls, and then I was the last heat in the boys. There was a super fast Canyon View kid, and Parowan kid that did well in my heat.  But I raced that finished at a 55.22. Not too shabby. Good racing experience in the 400.

Morning- Woke up feeling good. Ate a good breakfast. And went over to the high school with Byron, and Dave. Fun ride. Waited, and waited for my race... But warmed up pretty well. Did a lot of stride outs, and did some agilities. Then waited for the other heats to go. I was in the fastest heat. Pre-ranked 9th by time, and took 7th overall. So that's good. But one kid dropped out faster than me... So yeah....

Race Report- I started out good. First 200 came around 28ish. Jordon Cross starting throwing elbows, and pushing a DH kid. He almost tripped... Dang Jordon!  Be nicer! And then came around the 400 mark at 1:01ish. And then I just told myself to speed up. And I did a little, but everyone was just going crazy already. The 500 mark I started to get tired... So I started my kick, because I was in the back pack. And I worked my way up passed a few on the back stretch, and then on the curve worked my way up more, and passed 2 kids on the straight away. But I had to get into lane 3, and 4 to pass them, Because they were taking lanes 1, and 2. But I sprinted it in barely beating Starley, and Sharp. I was pleased with my time. It was a P.R. indeed. Official time was 2:02.89, good race. 7th overall, 3rd from Pine View! Found out this is the best 800 crew we have had in a while! Time to make it even faster! But I am still going for state! Things to work on next race. Make the first lap a little faster, and then the second one stronger. But good race for sure! Happy with my time, and placing, just one place away from a medal! It's always 0. something, or 1 place!! >:( But I shall get a medal this season in track and field! I am very pleased with my running in the way it's going.

Afternoon- 1.5 mile warm up. 4x1000's with 2x300's at "F" pace. Goal time was 3:11 again. Coach ran them with me, and we were on pace perfectly, and then the last 300 meters coach thought we were going to fast, so he just said," don't kick it in." I was like ok. But we hit 3:16 on that one. And the second one was 3:08, or :09 I forgot... But the third one was 3:10 required more focus, and effort. Than the last one required tons of effort, and lots of focus. Getting quick turn over. Hitting 3:11 barley. Then the 300's. I ran 44, and 45. The wind was crazy today on those. The first one was really windy! But good work out! For sure pushed me mentally, and physically! 1.5 mile cool down. Felt super tired on the cool down... But towards the end. The conversation was super funny with Mike saying some weird things! But goal time was :26-:28. Didn't hit any of those times.... I just couldn't make myself go today... I felt awful before practice, and during the work out. But after I just felt amazing for some reason! But times were 29, 30, 30, 31, 30, 31, 32, 31, 31, and 30. I really tried my best today. But I just didn't have it in me today.... But moving on. Morning- Woke up feeling good. Ate a good breakfast. Drove over to the meet. I was feeling good, but I was really nervous for some reason, which I am usually nervous at all... But My goal was to qualify for state. So I was aiming for 1:06, 1:08-:09, 1:08-:10, and 1:06. I warmed up 2.5 miles and felt ready. I was the only one racing in the morning so the boys warmed up with me to get a morning run in.

Checked in, got my sticker. And than went to the center of the field. And did agilities, and a couple of stride outs. I was a little worried that I am too much for breakfast on the warm up, but I just ate the right amount. And I watched the first heat go. Some nice times. Then I was up ready to go. I was pre-ranked 5th in my heat as a 4:42.01. So I was hoping the front pack would push the pace a lot.

Race Report- I started out really bad this time... Everyone was pushing, and elbowing. I got cut off like 5 times in the first 100 meters... But I just worked my way up to the front mid pack. And I came by the first lap at 1:07 (goal was 1:06). But I started to work my way up, just getting into a good position, but there were tons of guys all over the place. And started to lose focus for a little. Like I would go on, and off. I would push a nice, strong section, than back off, and die off. Then start it up again. This race was one of those ones. But the 2nd lap came around a 2:18 (1:11). A little too slow (goal 1:08-:09). Started to feel like I was doing bad, because there were tons of guys in front of me. But than I came around the back stretch, and got my speed going again. Pushing past a few kids. And then came around at 3:30 (1:12). Too slow. But I told myself I had to push hard to get state time!! I was right on pace! But I had too push a hard 1:05 in to the finish. I started to speed up, but my kick was nothing... It was just a strong finish.... But I started losing focus again on the back stretch, and than the 200 mark. I got refocused, and pushed it in hard, finishing the race at a 4:38 (1:08). Last lap was strong, but not what I wanted... I didn't have a kick really this race... But it was a great race to start out with! I P.Red by 4 seconds! :) WOOT WOOT! Happy for that! But I didn't get state... But I will get it at BYU this next weekend! I am even closer than I thought I was! Just have to answer the call ALL the way next time! Good race for sure! I now know without a doubt I can get state now in the mile, and the 800! :)

Waited all day for 4x800.... I was the first leg. I really felt good till about 5ish. I raced at 6ish. But I warmed up a little. I think I need to warm up more...

4x800- I took out slow... The first 10 meters, 3 guys started sprinting by, and that kinda blew my confidence down the drain.... But than I ran the first 200 in 29-30ish, which is a slow start. And I just got passed by more kids. That even got my confidence down even more... But I didn't know my first lap... But it was bad like a 1:05. And then I didn't start racing till about 300 meters left.... I passed all the guys that passed me, but got us in 4th. But I finished with a 2:08 (1:03).... That was the WORST 800 I have ever raced! EVER! But I felt like it was all my fault that we didn't break the school record... We were off by 0.3 seconds! Some of other guys didn't do their best, but good have done a little better. But me.... I run 2:02's, sub 2! Not 2:08 junk! Oh well. Moving on from it! I was pretty P.O.ed about it on the ride home. But Coach said that's the old Matt! Talking, the talk, not racing, the race. The new Matt races, the race, and doesn't talk, the talk! So I am keeping it the new MATT way! :)

Afternoon- Warm up 1.5 mile. 1x2000 at 1000 pace. And then 3x1000's faster than average. Goal time for the 2000 was 6:11. And 1000's were 3:05. I wasn't even close to any of the times...  The 2000 was 6:44........ 1000's were 3:17, 3:24, and 3:12. ... I felt terrible, and times were terrible.... But I pushed the last one pretty hard. I had a pretty down day today from some reason... And it cared throughout the work out! But I over think everything in life.... Especially running.... The reasons I have been having good work outs, and good races is because I turn off my brain, and let my legs do the thinking! I am totally opposite of everyone else.... They need their brain too. But me.... My legs! I don't understand that.... It was also 90 degrees today, and a bit windy.... So that could throw times off a little, but not too much....

But I warmed up 2ish miles with Byron, Casey, Nick, and Trevor (from old times)! That was fun! We ran to the indoor track, and ran on that. It was fun. Got my spikes and went to the bull pin.

Race Report 1600- I started weird.... They called runners to your mark, and I didn't line up till everyone else did, because I wasn't paying attention.... But they fired the gun, I took out perfect. First 200 was a 31. A little too fast. But that's ok. First lap came by a 1:05, lots of pushing this next lap. I pushed a kid like bad, because I got cut off 20 times, and was getting pushed! So I pushed a kid a little too hard! Push me, I push back! But this lap was really bad. running a 1:12-:13.... Coming by at a 2:17-:18.... 5 seconds off pace... I just lost focus, and just didn't want it today.... But next lap was a 1:12... Again too slow, and than finished with a 1:09.... I just can't get that 2nd, and 3rd lap down.... Finished at a 4:39... Time was a little slow, but 1 second off my p.r. so not too bad of a race.... I am going to go crazy at Region now! I want it bad now!!

Race Report 800- I took out good the first 100, than the rest was junk.... But I was way in the back the first 200... I could tell I was doing bad already, because I was in the very back... But I just came by the first lap at a 1:03..... Worst first lap ever I have had... Second lap was 1:02.... It was not a very good 800... time was a 2:05... Not what I wanted.... Again at Region! Than I slowed down a lot... Came by the 800 at a 2:12. 1:10 lap.... Too slow, but I got going the first 400, and not the 500.... The first 500 was good, but the last 500 was really slow... But I finished at a 2:53. So it was a good work out. Not what I wanted, but I am ok with it for now. But I am not going to settle for anything, until I qualify for state! I iced bath, and that felt good for my legs!

Still striving for a State qualifying time in the mile, and 800. Region is tomorrow, and Thursday. I am running the mile, and 800. Afternoon- Got the to the meet I was running the mile, and the 800 tomorrow. I felt good and ready to go.

Race Report- I started out terrible... I was in the very back... My first lap was 1:09... Not very good first lap, and than I just let the gap grow through out the race... And than my laps got slower, and slower as the laps went on... This was supposed to be my peaking time, but it wasn't very good.... My time was very bad for me... But I am going to overlook this race, and see what I can improve on.

Afternoon- Warmed up, and felt the best I have ever before in my life!

Race Report- Did some stride outs, and felt even better! Race started I got out good, but just slowed down... Everyone ran a slow time. Not even the winner got state qualifying time, which was kinda lame, because usually he runs like sub 1:56's. Just a tad fast kid... But the lead pack came by at a 1:02... I should have had that split, but instead it was a 1:05.... Not good.... I finished with a 1:01. I can't believe I ran a 1:05 first lap... That's a joke for me.... But I was way off time at this race, and could have taken top 4 to go to state... I am happy for this season like P.R's and stuff, but I am sad that I didn't qualify for state... I might go up as an alternate, but that's a maybe and to be determined....

Morning- Nice and easy 2 miles. Last morning Practice in a while!!! :)

Afternoon- Beast work out today in the heat! It was 2x100, 2x200, 2x300, and 1x400 all out! And the recovery was full. Like full recovery. This was my last work out/run, before I start my 2 week break from running. But it was getting hotter by the minute! 1.5 mile warm up. I also had the choice to do what I wanted.... So I chose the speed work out, because I want to get faster, and better! I really tried to work on my form this work out. Running more on my toes, leaning as been a big thing for me to work on lately... But pumping arms, and starting FAST! So the 100's were 13.4, and 13.2. Than the 200's were 27, and 27. The 300's were 44, and 43! 43 is the fastest 300 I have ran in a work out! :) And than the 400 I really tried my hardest to stay up with Mike, and Abel. And than Byron comes by me around home stretch, and I wanted to beat him soo bad! I was pushing, and digging soo hard to beat him! I tried my best, and I am not sure who got who.... But I ran like a 60. It was a extremely hard work out for me, it was more mental than physical! Maybe that's why I was soo tired... And it was 98ish degrees today! 1.5 mile cool down! It was super great! :) Besides the part Mike threw up!

Afternoon- I got home, and just felt like I needed to do something physical like exercise! So I went out to ride my bike! I rode for 45 minutes! And my GPS said I went 8 miles. But it was on running mode, so pace might have been a little weird.... But I felt pretty tired at the end. I gave a nice strong finish to it. And than I did my own modified work out including push ups, sit ups, certain dum-bell lifts, and so forth. I want to stay in shape for summer training! I am really excited for XC to come! Morning- Today was a tough run for sure. At least when I am not in shape.... But 0.5 mile warm up barefoot like usual. And then we did a work out that consisted of 2 park way loops. Push the long stretch of the hill, and then harder up the hill. It was good for the first one. Our pace was 6:45 going on the stretch away. And 6:38 going up the hill. The mile was 6:38 on this one. I was a bit beat from this one, because my legs have not hurt like this in a while... Like pushing up a hill. But I recovered well on the recovery one. Got my heart rate (HR) back down. And then we started out 2nd one, and I told to all the boys who were going to struggle a little to get infront. And it ended up working pretty great! Because mostly everyone kept up to speed. It was good. I stayed back a little on the long stretch to help the boys keep up, and push them, and have them help me pace. Hunter started giving in, so I gave him words of encouragement! :) And it looked like it helped for quite a while! But the kid is a beast! Then about the last 150 Abel, and By-run started sprinting! I was like umm? But I started sprinting too up the hill. It was a good work out. For sure made my work harder! But I want to work harder even now! Well only one steep hill, and then just little bumps and dashes you could say. But we marked the mile out turn around, and the 1.5 mile turn around, and even the 4! By-Run and Abel wanted to go fast again, and our first mile was 7:49 (uphill). Next mile was 7:14 (flat), and third mile was 6:59 (down hill), and then 4th and final mile was 5:59 (down hill). Because they wanted to have a freshmen race.... I started at least 25 meters behind them. And I was catching them by the meter! So therefore I am a faster kicker! Ah just kidding By-run, and Abel! :) But my feet were burning soooo bad sprinting down hill.... Stretched after, and had a nice little conversation with the boys about life. And then.... I worked out!!!! Yeah! I am beast! Just kidding again! I am not a beast, but a HUGE Beast! I am just rambling on now like usual.... But good run.

I really wonder what amazing things I can do now!! This was a pretty good work out. I just trusted it a little more, and just went. This was for sure a great work out today! I started to get a little negative with it, but after the first mile I was thinking to myself, "Wait I can do this!" So I picked it back up, and made up some ground. I am proud of myself again! :) I was 3rd on the team again. Not that it matters. Reed did amazing! He was only 55 meters behind. That's pretty dang close! Good job Reed!! Good job everyone acutally! Morning- Very hard work out. It consisted of 30/30's. Run 30 seconds rest 30 seconds. My goal was to run 146 meters in 30 seconds. And I was running around 155 meters for most of them. And I ran with Abel, and By-Run and kept up most of the time. It started getting harder around 15. But I still felt fresh. But around 25ish I started to push more, and just keep myself going. Going into the 30's I was like... How many are we going to do?!? But I just told myself to go to 35, and see what happens from there. And I get to 35, and I was really starting to get tired, and I was pushing from about 20's. But coach said he was maxing it out at 40. And I was thanking him! Because I was really feeling it by the end of 40. I did 40. We were also going by atleast 6 blue cones for all 40 of them. The down hill parts I got 26's, and 27's on. And on the uphill I got around 29's, and 30's. It was for sure the hardest work out we have had already. This work out mainly helped me mentally, than physically it felt like. Because racing is the same way. Who can hang in there the longest? Who can keep the pace going the longest? That's what kept me going today! And when we had one left, I thought we had 2 left. And I was just going to crush the last one! Sprint it all out! But turns out I was 1 off counting.... And I had my watch going so that helped alot. I just had it run the whole time, so I could see what times were.  And kids club was super fun today! They raced, some of those kids are pretty dang fast! But I ran with them for 1ish for cool down. I am going to camp for sure now!! :) I stretched for about 20 minutes after everything, because I was sooo tight at the end. I recovered pretty well on the looping part. And on the 2nd one. I had to push way harder than the 1st one, because we were going faster. I lead it most of the way. Well Abel, and I lead this one! We were going 6:25-6:30 up the steep part of the hill. And 6:40 on the bumpy parts. I had to push a lot more at the end. It was for sure a hard work out! I felt pretty sluggish today... Like sluggish, need to eat more healthy food, and stretch more. Because I could not get my legs going at all.... I started out sooo slow on each one. But this time we did them right. Your supposed to recover jog the whole 30 seconds. No walking, no stopping even for 2 seconds before you go again. Just a constant sprint, jog, sprint, jog. So it gets pretty tough. I am now happy with the work out. After I was very bummed about it... But it was good now that I think it over. I went way longer distance this time for recovery, and I didn't stop like 10 seconds before each one. So... That's why I think it was soo much harder this time. I will aim for 25ish next time.

Morning- Today for practice it was not team offical, but we held practice as a team though. Not very many showed up... But that's ok. It's July 4th! And I showed up 15 minutes late. I was up late last night, and slept through my alarm... So no more last nights during the week for sure! And I was pretty grumpy on the run, until about mile 4 I loosened my anger up a little. So I was calmer. But today I did 6. It was supposed to be a hilly run. So we went down into Hell's Hole. Extremely hard run today! With lots of hills, and one hill that is atleast 0.5 mile long and at 13%. So pretty steep. It was a beast to run up. But I really felt awful today.... My legs were hurting like crazy, and still hurt. I have not been stretching very well. So I need to do a better job at that. Right leg is giving me problems... Right quad tightened up a lot, than right calve....

Morning- Woke up feeling pretty well rested. Over the long weekend. Today we had 4xmile repeats today. My goal pace was 7:13. And I started out doing the normal team stuff. And ran up to the dirt mile feeling pretty good. I later than started my first mile repeat. 6:58. It was good. Had 3 minute recovery for each one in bewteen.  Next one was 6:57. And the third one required a little focus. But was 6:54. And for the last one finishing with a good 6:46. These are only at 80%. Which are pretty easy. But they will get way harder as we go on in time. So I will wait for late. And we start our first afternoon practice today! YA!!!

Afternoon- 3 miles with the team. It was super hot, but I really didn't feel the heat. But it was good. Had weights after. Those were pretty funny, and buff.

Morning- Had grass run today! Love grass runs! They always feel soo nice. But 4 miles on the grass barefoot, and 8xbarefoot strides. The striders were nice too! And I worked on my form. Felt pretty good today. But legs were a little tight from weights, and the longer distance yesterday. But I stretched good. And kids club today was funnier than usual for some reason. But at the end we did a mix grades and did a relay. I was the anchor for my team. And the track was sooo sharp turns. But anyways my team was down by atleast 100 meters. And guess who it was?!?! Stoner! I kinda just thought ok, I can catch her easily! Nope! Within 200 meters I had to speed up fast! And at the end I was almost sprinting. But she got me by 10 meters.... I claimed she cheated. She cut off 1 corner!

Morning- Today was 30/30's. Just my favorite! Just kidding sometimes! They make you push but I got 26 repeats. I started to feel good after the warm up. But before like during core excercises I was super tired for some reason. I got plenty of rest last night. But I felt amazing after a few repeats. I started too get tired around 15ish. Like I was warm uped ready to go. And I started wondering if I could get into the 30's! But Krenny was with Kyler, and I for a while. Than his calve started bugging him so he had to drop out. Kyler started slowing down on each one after about 18ish. And I had to start pushing the pace. But Kyler did awesome! He pushed himself hard, and pushed my as well. But after 21 he dropped out. And I was alone... So I had to push by myself. I just wanted to get to 25. And as soon as I hit 25 I thought I was done. But I was going to 26 trying sooo hard to get where I needed to be (Had to travel 6 blue cones 150 meters, and on recovery was half of that so 3 blue cones, 75 meters). I was about 5 meters off of the 6th blue cone... I missed it by that much! Oh well. I did great! I feel very happy about this work out, and my legs have been just super tight, tight. I will ice bath tomorrow.

Morning- Today I was super excited for today's work out for some reason. I don't know why! But I was pumped! But we did the usual core work, and warm up stuff like normal. But today we had 5 miles total on the work out. And it constited of 5x10 second bounders, and 5x10 seconds hill sprints. You just pump really good on the bounders, and on the sprints you go all out for 10 seconds. So it sounds pretty easy right? But after a few you get tired. And then we add mileage down into Hell's Hole. And running back up was not much fun... It's such a beast hill! But I felt pretty good today. No problems, or complaintents today! :) Well atleast so far. I will have to see till afternoon practice.

Afternoon- I found 2 other pairs of my trainers!! WOO HOO! But today in the afternoon was an easy 3 miles with the team. Amazing weather! Super humid though! About 80 degrees! That's amazing for having it 110 outside lately... But my right calve was bugging me pretty bad... But weights were good too.

Morning- Today was super humid as well. It felt nice till about half way through the run. Today I went on a 9 miler. It was supposed to be a "hilly" run. And it was! We ran up this beast hill! Just kept going on, and on... But my shirt was drained in sweat. Like I jumped in a pool. It was soaked! Just 4 miles into the run too! I felt kinda sluggish miles 2-4ish. But on the way back I felt amazing! And it was a very easy pace. But the distance was the challenge a little. And we went out towards the airport road? It was a very long run. But I felt good throughout most of it. Went by faster than I thought! Well time to end the week with a easy run tomorrow! :)

Morning- 0.5 mile warm up. Today was Monday repeat day! Or Monday miles! I had today 5 repeats today! That's the most I have ever done. But it's not too fast of a pace. I was supposed to run 7:12.4. But I ran 6:44, ~:53, ~:50, ~:46, and ~:45. So they were a little faster than the pace I was supposed to go. But they are pretty consistent. That's all that matters. That's what I gotta work on this year. Is consistency! If I can do that! I can do ANYTHING with running, and races! I felt kinda tired after them, but not very much. I did a mile warm up, and one mile cool down. I then did 3 minute recovery in between each mile. So that's where I got another mile. We did them on the dirt mile too. I keep on forgeting to say that stuff first. But I felt pretty good, after!

Afternoon- Weights. No run in the heat today, becaus I am doing a 5k tonight! I am going for sub 17, or sub 16:45 for now. That's what I was last year. I am in pretty good shape now. But we will see what happens. If I don't get it. Oh well for now. I still got time to improve! :) And I planked for 4:31.44 2nd longest plank I have done ever! I could broken my P.R. But I didn't want today. Maybe Next weights I will! >:D

Night- All I have to say before I put this race report in. Is that I fall asleep at 9:30. And I raced at 10... Sooo yeah... Warmed up 1.15 miles. And I felt pretty good. Waited a while, and got to the line.

Race Report- I got pretty quick, but just died off within the first half mile.... I could tell I was slowing down, because the gap got bigger, and bigger from the top boys. And I felt pretty good for the first mile. First mile was 5:42. It was an alright first mile. Coming around the second lap I started to already get tired... And I came by the 2nd mile at a 5:56... I have never ran a mile that slow in a race before. But I started not feeling to hot after this part, and got kinda discouraged... And my pacer said 6:04 pace! I was like what the?!? I am better than that! So I picked it up a little not by much though. Just 5:58 last mile.... But better than nothing. And for the 0.02 was 7 seconds. So my 3 mile split was 17:36. Considering I am not in racing shape. I did pretty good. Abel, and Byron ripped it up!

Morning- Today was a grass run. And everyone was for sure angry this morning, including me. I was very angry. But W/E... 4 miles with striders. Half mile with the kids club. But I didn't feel very good today, considering I only slept 6 hours last night... I usually sleep 8. But I was just frustated the whole run, and more mad. Striders I kinda mellowed out. But I just tried to work on my form after 4 of them. Dropping it though! :) Kids club was pretty good. I was just tired, and sluggish today. No energy for the little kids. But I want to get faster! It's going to take hard work, and some deternation to accomplish the goals I want now this year. So it's time to step it up. It's done on the course or run. Not saying it. So I will work on that. And I took a 3 hour nap today! So now.... I am super happy!

Morning- Today was 30/30's. All I can say is that these are hard! But did normal stuff, and one mile warm up like usual. I just turned off my brain, and this work out flew by, and so did I. I ended up doing 30 repeats. Which is the best I have done running the work out correctly. I had to really push that last few. But I made it through. And I started getting tired around 24ish. I felt amazing in the teens. But I was sweating like crazy. And on the cool down. My lungs, and brain were just fired up. Like pumping tons of blood. And my legs felt like jello. Which is a good feeling once, and a while. But I gotta step it up a little more. I can't stop at nothing. Even if it's breaking all my goals. I gotta keep pushing! It's going to take hard workouts like this, but even more! I felt pretty exhausted at the end of the work out. And I was very happy with this work out! Because I know I gave it my all!

Afternoon- 3 miles super easy with Abel, and Krenny. We met at the soccer park, and ran on the trails. It was nice, and a little cooler today. We had a nice conversation. I felt way better today than yesterday, and monday! So that'a a plus! And I stretched a little after we got done. It was a nice mellow run!

Morning- Today was 9 miles with 2 mile tempo at "AT" pace. It was supposed to be 6:20. I felt pretty good for the first few miles. Than it got hotter, and we stopped to get water. We got going again. And we started our 2 mile tempo. I was pushing the pace, because I thought we were supposed to go faster. But splits were 6:19, and 6:09. I felt pretty good for the two miles, and they went be extremely fast. Finished up the run by running around random streets, and had to get mileage. So we did that. This 9 miler was soo much easier than last weeks. I don't even know why. It felt soo much shorter. But my legs felt like jello again. I kinda love that feeling of working hard. Stretched pretty good.

Afternoon- 3 miles with the team in the heat. I started feeling the heat after mile 2. And I slowed down a lot from the group... I felt like headed, and dizzy. But I made my way back to the high school, and just cool downed. Put wet paper towels on the forehead to cool me down. I didn't hydrate very well, before this run. So that's probally why. But I felt awful... And I did some of the weights, but not all... Just not a good afternoon run...

Morning- Holy molly! Running hurts really bad sometimes! Today we did 2xMeat grinders, which is running up Web Hill. It's about the steepest hill in St. George! And about a mile long, so pretty beast! Once you get to the top, you can see everything! It's pretty amazing! But we ran this year's region course once. And then went over to web hill. The first one didn't seem too bad, until about half way up. The pain started coming, and the cramps in the legs started to come as well... And I was tempted to walk sooo bad! That was my goal just not to walk! Even though I wanted to sooo bad.... But I was exhausted once we hit the top. And then jogged back down, which felt like forever down hill. Next one was even tougher for sure! I really died on this one... I started good the first halfish. Then about 3/4ish I died off. And then 1/5 left I started to get going again. This was by far the hardest work out we have already. There is probally more to come! "But the will to win, means nothing without the will to prepare!" I really wanted to walk on this one, but I just kept myself to keep going, and going. And eventually I made it to the top. But it required more than I had in me today for sure! I am proud of myself today. :) I honestly thought I couldn't do it... But I got a knew theme in my head this year, "It's Possible." If I say that, then it is possible. Abel (Taylor), and By-run (Byron) really helped me out on the last one. And Abel encouraged me to go with him, and By-run. Thanks guys! :) Than Coach Holt really helped me, and gave me words of encouragement that helped a ton! Thanks coach. But when I got done. I was really, really, really happy to get done. I was sooo thristy. I drank one million gallons of water when I got back to my water bottle. Just kept on drinking, and drinking water! This week has been super hard. I am proud of myself! This is going to be a good XC I can tell already. I am getting back into my groove! :D

Noonish- I went 5 miles. It was about 100+ today. Just at 12:30ish. And I felt it too... All my miles were like 8's flat. So this run was pretty dang slow.... I took it super easy, because I have been pushing super hard the past few days. And I figured I needed an easy day. So I did. I got home from camping at like 8ish. And fell asleep. I wish I would have wake up early and ran on the mountain. It was 48 degrees up there!! 48!! That's way better than 100+!!! But I went out a mile, and figured it would be cooler on the grass. So I ran a mile or so on grass. Then went a mile or so out again. And flipped it. And went home. It is super hot today.... Makes me wanna cry!

Morning- Last night I was super excited for this weeks work outs. And I just couldn't stop thinking about kicking the crap out of them! But I got a little too excited, and pumped, because I couldn't fall asleep last night very well... I am starting to have a little struggle getting up in the mornings... I am getting plenty of rest just can't kept my mind off running EVER. But it's not a bad thing, because I only spend 2 hours plus on it each day. But anyways... Today was did 6xMile repeats from the V02 max test at 80%. I felt pretty good, just got a little tired running by myself. Abel, and Byron were a little faster, and then the guys behind me were a little slower (like pace for the work out). But I got 6:50 on the first one felt pretty good like always. The second one was 6:56. Oh my goal time was 7:12. Third one was 6:53, and I started feeling eh, because it's a little speed up change, but not enough to make you feel like your dying. So I hate that. Forth one was 6:48. I  started to feel more eh. And the fifth one Kyler ran with me, THANK YOU! Finally someone to run with. And that one was 6:52. The last one Coach had me run with Abel, and Byron and him. But we hit 6:14. I felt good on that one for sure! Because it felt like I was almost attacking! >:D Love that feeling. Gotta keep on attacking, and attacking! But the next few days will be that time. 1 mile cool down. Did 3 minutes of recovery between each one. 1.5 mile warm up.

Afternoon- I felt amazing today! Even though it was hot. Nice and easy 3 miles with the team. I was thinking about returning my shoes that I bought the whole time, during the run, and weights! And then Preston talked me into buying them! Little kid! >:( But I returned them back and got the Cohesion 6's!!! I have the 5's. I love them, but the 6's are sweet! I drank tons of water today! I made myself! And I said I would drink like what byron said. Which is a drunk someone of another country. Can't metion the name, because people would get offened. But weights were good too. I felt moviated to do great lifting today! Life is good! Got a job interview tomorrow, might move, and got new running shoes! :D

Morning- Today was 30/30's. But I had a job interview in the middle of our normal stuff, and our warm up. So I got that done with, and I worked my way up to practice. And I warmed up pretty fast, but controllable at my own good pace. And then I started immidately when I got back the school. Everyone else did atleast 5, before I came. So I came late. I started good, and took me a little go get going the first 10 or so. I felt amazing at 15. But around 20ish I started getting tired mentally, and wanted to quit... But I told myself to keep on going. And around 25ish I really wanted to just stop there. But I forced myself to get atleast 30 again. And I really had to push mentally to get to 30 repeats. I had to cover 150 meters (actually 146). With half of that so 75 meters on the recovery. I was exhausted after, and I was pretty prould of myself today! :) Same amount as last time... Maybe step it up a little next time? I think so. I will do so. Kids club was racing today. Some of the kids are sooo dang fast for the little kids! They kids are pretty nice, but sometimes they just get on my nerves... But all is well.

Afternoon- 3 miles super easy, and slow with David. I kept on telling him to go slow with me, because the next few days we will be going pretty dang hard. So he did. Morning- Woke up at 4:30 A.M! Went over to Coach's house so we could drive clear out to Enterprise to race a 5k. We drove up, I was pretty tired... And wanted to sleep... So I took a little power nap. And felt good after that. We warmed up like a quarter mile... Because we got there, like 10 minutes before the race started! And they loaded up the buses and went up to this canyon. And they left us!! Because we were using the Jong. haha. But we were freaking out, because the race started in 4 minutes, and we didn't have a ride all the way up the canyon! But this guy that was helping gave us a ride up. Like fast! His truck only went 80 MPH like maxed out. And was going 75-79 MPH! Really pushing the car! His car was shaking, and I was super nervous! This was the kind of aderaline I needed before a race! :) Anyways.... Now that I told you all that...

Race Report- Goal for today: Stick on Abel, and Byron the first mile, and hang in there as long as possible. And push till the finish. I started out super fast, because I thought Abel, and Byron were going to take out at a dead sprint like last time. But I calmed down into the pace. And the first mile flew by like crazy! But I just had to focus on staying on them. Stay on them Matt, stay on! So I did until about a little before the mile marker. And I fell back 30 meters... But first mile was 5:20ish. And I felt like I was pushing the first mile pretty good. And now I thought 2 miles left I can do this! Kyler, and Colton were also racing this race. Kyler was with me for most of it. But I slowed down a lot on this next mile, but I kept on trying to keep a alright pace. Not like die out... So I kept on pushing the pace every 0.15 of a mile, or so. Kyler fell off me about 1.7ish. And I kept my eye on the leading truck, and said, "Keep close!". But I was alone basically. Kyler fell behind 30-50 meters. And I had to push the pace myself. I really hate having no one pushing the pace with me... But I would throw little surges in, and push for sections. Then before I knew it. Mile 2 was done! 1 mile to go! 5k's are sooo short when you break them down! I can do one mile. I really tried to push this parth hard, but nothing crazy happened, until Colton just starts flying by me at like 5:10ish pace. I went with him. But sadly he died out quickly, and I softened the pace too... But that got me going again to finish. After running a few minutes in my mind, I thought 800 meters! That's my race! So I picked it up. And with a real 800 meters left. I really tried pushing, and pushing. I could tell I was going harder, because the pain level went up ALOT! But I was worried I couldn't hold that pace, but I told myself. To just trust it, and go! So I did. You don't know how far you can go, until you try your best! I re-learned that this race! I kept on pushing till the end. I didn't really sprint to the end like usual, but just kept the same pushing pace at 800 meters... If I could have sprinted I could have taken off a few seconds! But the course was 3.15 miles. I was very pleased with my placing, and time. 17:48 for the 3.15 mile course. Most of it was down hill. It's not a P.R. But it was a really performed race for what type of year it is for me. My three mile split was around 16:47-16:55. That's not too shabby. Average pace was 5:39. That's actually pretty dang good for me right now! :) So I am happy about that too. And I got 3rd overall, and got a medal. That was pretty cool. And made me feel like I actually accomplished something, and even got me really motivated for XC this season! Because I forgot what it feels like to medal. It makes you feel good, atleast me! :) Things learned from this race. Trust it, and go. You don't know, until you try. And stick with the top boys a little longer. Things to work on is keep the pace going harder each mile. And get back into serious racing shape! This was an amazing race! And I was super positive, and happy after! That's another good thought!

Afternoon- Went on a afternoon run with the team. Just an easy 3 miles. Went by fast, but just was super hot today. Was about 106 on the dirt, and 110ish on the road... Soo HOT! But felt good after, and good to get in. Ready to roll for rest of the week! :)

Morning- Today was a hill work out. Down in Hell's hole. The trials were all washed out from the last flood. And so we had to do it up the giant hill going down into there.... But 2 mile warm up counting the barefoot warm up. But the hill work out was 4x1 minutes, and 6x30 seconds. It was pretty tough, but no where as bad as I thought. But it still pushed me. The minutes were pretty tough. But Trevor ran with us today, and paced pretty well. And pushing the pace. I felt like I did good on this work out. The 30 seconds were a little tough at the end. And we ran out. That was fun... NOT! But I felt pretty good, after we were done. And we went up by parkway to get mileage. And finished it to the school. Good morning, consider I thought it was going to be rough, due to the lack of sleep. But good morning. :)

Afternoon- Today was 3 miles with the team to AC. That was pretty good. I didn't feel the heat too bad this time, because I drank tons, and tons of water today. So the run was pretty good. Morning- I woke up, thinking it would be crazy hot outside, because it was 7:40. But I ate breakfast did some neighbor's yardwork and than went running. I went down by the elementary, and I decided to go check out Hell's hole from the flood last night! I can call this an "Adventure run!". I ran over there, and ran into the canyon. And the roller coaster trial was just destroyed. The whole track trial was all grinded, and ripped up everywhere. Cave ins everywhere. Rocks were all over. There was still water rushing through the dips. And it was just crazy. Looked like a tornado went through this place. I think Hell's hole is now pretty much destroyed on the roller coaster side. I went a little on the other trial to see, if the river was up any. And yup it was! Like 50 feet almost! It was way higher from usual. But if they don't fix this mess up. No more Dog-Town half's!! That would make me anrgy! But I walked around a lot, because I had already ran a little too far in there. So I just walked around two or three miles to see what happened. It was pretty cool too see. I was running on the roller coaster part, and this random family was walking their dogs. And this guy was like, "Cross Country?" I was like yup. He was like sweet. But also! When I ran out of the canyon. I felt like I wanted to die up that hill... My legs are dead, and my body had nothing in it today... My goal is to recover the rest of today, and sunday. And be ready to roll monday! :)

Afternoon- 5 miles at camp. The altitude really is higher up here. Felt good to run with the cooler temps in the afternoon.

Morning- Another 15 miler day. Long day today! Another run up at XC camp. Went 12 straight out. I told myself that I would just have to run for an hour, and then I could finish it off. With about 30 minutes left I started to feel eh. After 8.5 miles. But we got going around 6:40 pace in the meadows. So the pace increased. But at mile 10 we ran up this giant hill. And I pushed up that sucker. And it was tough. But I did it. And I was exhausted when we got done. And I was glad to be done. Glad to get a 12 miler in. First one of the year! :)

Afternoon- 3 miles easy. Well this run was the easiest run up here.

Camp- At camp tonight we had our XC-imony. It really changed my thought on runnig in a good way.

Morning- 6 miles up the giant hill at camp. It was tough, and I felt sluggish right when I woke up. I tried my best today to push up the hill. But it conquered me today speed wise... But I got it next time! >:D And I died on the way back.

Afternoon- This run was way better than the morning run. And just as hard, or even harder. But we went down into this canyon, and I took a nap today, so that's why I felt better on this run. But the canyon was all down hill, and we went 1.8 out to find the river where treassure got stuck a few years ago. And ran back up that was tougher, but I felt amazing for some reason! And I helped out the boys a lot to keep going, and myself. Good run! Felt amazingly great on this run! :)

Afternoon- 3 miles in the blazing heat, and I wanted to die... And I felt terrible, even worse than yesterday.

Night- 7 miles with attempted 2 miles tempo. I was supposed to go 8, but I just over worked my body in the last few days.... I felt abousutely terrible on this run. I ran 3 with David, so he could get his double in for the day. And than up to the dirt mile, and ran 2 loops at attempted tempo pace. I was supposed to go 6:00 minute pace for 3 miles. And I hit the first mile at 6:08, so not too bad. And then the next mile was 6:20ish. And I could tell I was off pace a lot. And I couldn't breath at 1.5 miles into the tempo. And I decided to stop after mile 2... And I almost threw up 4 times. I also couldn't breath, and had no energy at all. Running today just felt like a chore, and was very unmotivated to run at all....

I felt soo terrible on my run physically, and mentally. My miles were who knows how slow... I was just glad to be able to move one leg in front of the other. I just over worked myself the last few days this week... And some how I over work my body, which I don't feel like I do, because I am too stubborn. I was dying today overall. And think I over did it...

Afternoon- 3 miles, with weights. All I can say is that everyone was insane today on the run. Weights were good. I pushed myself in weights. The top of my foot hurt a little. But overall good. Plyos were good too. Hurt my foot more...

I was pretty tired, like not awake during the warm up, but once we got going I woke up a little. And I was supposed to go 293 distance. I was short on a few of them, but it felt like I didn't give my all, but I was exhausted at the end. Mabye I just didn't realize I gave my all. But good work out. I did 15 repeats.

Night- Went running with David. Just some laps at the school. Ran home. Good run talked a lot to David, and he actually talked back! :) A little discomfort in my foot. But still icing.

Morning- Today was a time trial. At our home course. It constited of three laps. 1,200 twice, and one 800 lap. I thought of it as a work out not race, other wise I get nervous.

Race Report- I took out with Colton, Kyler, Paul, and Nick. Reed was in the mix too for the first bit. But I just held in the pack for the first lap, and coming by at 4:16. First lap was good. But people fell off. So now it was just Kyler, Colton, and I. Colton fell off on the second lap. And I started to get a little tired, so I surged with Kyler, and help pushed the pace. Finishing the second lap at 8:39 (4:23 1,200). Pace slowed down a little, but not too much. And than I started to push the pace, because Kyler started to fall off pace, and I had to push the pace, because he wasn't anymore really. I created a gap, but not a very big one. My goal was to win this time trial. Or atleast lead it, and for the most part I did. I really tried pushing the pace the last part, but the legs were tired, and I started my kick over by the hill. Kyler like jumps up the hill. It's insane! But Kyler as a killer kick, and I finished it in strong, and Kyler got me by 0.8. So I barely lost to him. I am glad we pushed each other. And it feels like I care more about my teammates racing well, rather than me. Because I kept on encouraging them. But I still pushed myself pretty good. I was only 8 seconds off my P.R. on this course. And it's not even the start of the season yet. So that's a good sign. And Abel, and Byron were not here either to push the pace. So this was a good leading experience for Kyler, and I. Good race overall. I just gotta work on my death sprint at the end.

Afternoon- 3 miles with David. It was pretty hot, but a little cooler, because we went at 5:15ish. And it was tough, because I had huge side cramps, and had to stop for a little...

Morning- 12 miles with 4 miles tempo. The tempo was at a good pace, nothing crazy, but required a little push, and focus at the end. I add to make up some mileage, before practice. So I ran 2 miles before, or while high knees' (etc.). But I was feeling eh. And once we got going on the run I felt pretty good. I started to think positve, and felt amazing! And we started the tempo as soon as we hit the trail. And I was the only one with 4 miles tempo. So I had to go another 0.5 than some of the other boys. First mile 6:12 getting into it. Good pace, I was able to talk a little, everyone else was breathing a little hard. Next mile 6:11. Most of the boys fell off, and then we flipped it out 5 miles, and came back. Third mile was 6:09, and the last mile was 6:07. Good tempo. I lead the whole thing pretty much, but Kyler kept pushing the pace a little. We started creeping into the 5:5x's. And I told him to calm down. And so it was good. And I had 0.5 mile tempo to myself. And I got thinking. If I run more mileage, or one more repeat than someone else. That should make me better over time. But it's really about pushing, and wanting it. I am starting to get my desire back to really become a great runner, once again! Ready for the season now! This run felt really good to get in. :)

Afternoon- 3 miles. And wow! People were sooo annoying today! Just kidding! I was! :) But after the run I mellowed out, and weights were good. I didn't do plyo's, because my foot has been hurting, and plyos hurt it. So I didn't do them. But good afternoon. One more hard work out for the week. I am ready for it! >:D

Morning- 0.5 mile warm up like usual. Everyone thought to kinda do their own thing on warm up. So I just lead with my GPS watch. :) Did 3 miles on the grass/side walk, because my foot as been hurting, and running barefoot hurts. But it was a slow pace. And then we went over for a hill work out. I had the most, which was 7x1 minute, and 3x30 seconds. It was pretty tough. We ran up a beast hill. And I kinda had to lead the pace for most of it. And really push out the pace hard to make everyone push. But the boys really stepped it up a lot today! It was probally one of the best work outs they have had. But I ran a bout 0.2 for each one of the minutes. And I started feeling it after 5 minutes. And I had to push hard on the 7th one, because I had to run that one alone. And I went pretty fast on the 30's. The first one I went almost all out. And I kept it controlled, but we had some rabbits on the first one. And then the second one I went all out. And on the third/last one. I went really all out. And when I was done with this work out. My legs were on fire, and so was my brain, lungs, and body. I had really gone all out, and did my best on these. Good work out for me. And I pushed hard. The hill was a little over 0.5 miles. So that's where the extra mileage came in.

Afternoon- OH MY! My legs hurt, and so does my mind, and body.... I had no energy on this run. I was dead tired, and barely could even run... I need to eat more, and drink more water. That's my problem.

Morning- 2 mile warm up. 6x1 mile repeats around the 800 meter loop with grass and some hills. And 3 minute recovery into between each one. So I ran with Kyler for most of them. Goal pace was 6:27. First one was 6:40 way slow. So the next one was 6:14, because I didn't want to be slow. And the third one was 6:32? Not sure on that one. I kinda zoomed out of it for the next two. But the forth one was 6:26, and the 5th David stepped it up a lot, and ran a 6:16 with me. And the last one was 6:11. Good work out, but a little unmotivated to keep going. But I made it through, and just told myself to do it. And I did. 2 mile cool down. Legs were pretty tight after the work out.

Afternoon- 3 miles easy with the team, after talking to coach for a while/doing school stuff. I felt ready to run! And it went well. I am getting back my bounce in running, because I saw Trevor running, and it was good to see his form. Such great form! But had weights too. Those were good. Got a good core lift in. Coming across the first mile 5:37... Pretty slow first mile for me. But then I had too make up sooo much ground on mile 2, and 3 to catch up to the chase pack. But I did really well on mile 2, and 3. And made up a lot of ground, but not enough. I was kinda doubting around the last lap, because the real pain came. I told myself to go. I did for about 100 meters. Than just died off slowly. I was within a couple seconds of the others guys 6-9 places with 600 meters to go. And I could have gone, but I didn't. I woulda, I coulda, I shoulda. Not of that crap now. I had a blast running out there! Looking at the giant meadow, and all the flat stuff! But Byron was listening to is i-phone the WHOLE time, so I had no to talk too... I don't really blame him. But we started our tempo when we turned around. The first half mile or so was fairly down hill, but not much. We both were dying of dehydration. I really tried to speed up, but just stayed the same pace. We had to stop for water at a spring 2.75 miles in the tempo. Then I just kept going after Byron stayed there for a while. But I speed up a lot on this part. Making my average faster. And my average was 6:12 pace/per mile. It was actually pretty eh. But considering no one was pushing the pace. And we both were dying. Morning- Had to be at the school at 6:30 to get to the meet. It was in Cedar City. I had a good breakfast, and hydrated pretty well. I also fell asleep on the ride up there (about 45 minute drive). I was tired, but after that short nap I felt ready to roll! I warmed up at least 2 miles. And then I was ready to go, and it started to rain a little. And then it start to thunder a little. And they postponed (spell check) the Varsity boys race. I then just told myself to calm down, and wait for my time to come. Then they finally called us to race in 10 minutes after a half hour of waiting.

Race Report- The gun went off, and I took out pretty fast. And I got packed in with this pack about of 40 guys. And 500 meters in. This Dixie kid would not let me pass him. There were 2 guys and him in the middle, but slightly back. So I wanted to take the gap. And he wouldn't let me through. So I gave him the memo I wanted through, and he took off sprinting, and as soon as that gap was there. I got in the passing than, and took off! And I really started moving my way up from here. I was about in 20th place here. And I kept on creeping my way up. And we finished the 1st loop (course contained 3 laps, small, large, medium.) But Kyler and I pushed the pace here. On the down stretch (first mile 5:25). The 2nd lap. I had to push the pace, because Kyler was falling off a little, So we kept on going. And Eric Lambert from Cedar kept on passing me. And I wouldn't let him pass me. So we probally passed each other 4-7 times just on the 2nd lap. And finishing the 2nd lap. I really started to feel good. Like I started passing more people. And on the 3rd lap, on the little up hill part this is were I thought I was going to hit the worse wall ever of time. But it wasn't anywhere as bad as I thought. So I kept on going. With 400 meters to go. I was in 12th place, and Kyler, Richfield kid, Nephi, and Josh T. were infront of me. And I wanted to pass them sooo bad. But they were just going too fast. And I just tried holding a good pace into the finish. And Dallin R from DH comes on me fast, and flys by. I tried really hard to catch him, but he ended up beating me, and that made me mad. But I told him Good job like 5 seconds after we crossed the finish line, and he called me a "loser!" What a jerk!! But overall Great race! Time was the same as last year at region (which was at the end of the season) so that's a very good sign. There was great runners there today in my race. And glad to have them there. Morning- Good news! My blister didn't hurt, or did my achillies, but.... My legs are awfully tight, and tired. But easy 3 miles this morning.

Afternoon- 2 mile warm, with 6 minute Vv02 Max test today. 2 mile cool down. It was actually 2.5 mile warm up, but anyways. I was soo excited for practice today in school for some reason, (maybe because of the race). But I was pretty pumped for the work out, and ready to kill it. I then hit a wall 4th period. And felt soo tired, and sluggish... But warmed up. And I started to feel a little better, and we got started. I took out pretty fast with Byron, Abel, Trevor, and Kyler, but quickly that gap grew and stayed the same for the whole time. But we ran around the 800 meter loop (small hill, and lots of grass). So slower times, but! I still pushed it. And first lap was 2:31, and mile mark 5:17 (2:46), I really slowed down on that second lap... I just coasted off Colton for that lap, bad mistake... I always do that like A LOT. But I didn't do it much at the race last saturday. So I am teaching myself not too coast anymore, push more! :) Got 2 laps, and 210 meters, which is 1,810 meters I think. But I was tired, after the work out. Just running 6 minutes. I don't know how I ran soo beast at the race! But I have work to do. I have to get down that attitude of "keep working hard, and getting faster, better, stronger." My lungs were burning, and my head felt like a ballon, just waiting to blow up... But 2 mile cool down. Had weights today too. I had a good lift today. And was excited to lift. Had a meeting in Coach's room. That was pretty good, and gave me some ideas to use this season. And I stretched the whole time. So I feel way less tight now.

And with 780 meters to go I came across at a 8:35. So I think about the same as last time. Or slower, not quite sure... But I did 1 second slower than last time. I just wasn't really mentally in it today. But I will be for Grass relays for sure! 2 mile warm up, and 2 mile cool down. I then had more bathroom problems on the cool down... And almost died. But I am going to take out the positives from this! I did pretty good on last 2/3's of the race, but the first 1/3 was a little slower. I just have to learn to take out faster. That's my only problem for now!

Morning- Woke up feeling pretty good, after having some trouble with breakfast, I finally got some at the hotel. And then we headed out towards the meet. And once we got there. We watched some of the girls races, and they had good races. Finally it was my time to race. And I ran the course once so I got a mile in there. 2 mile warm up.

Race Report- I was out third leg. I was sweating pretty bad, before I was started racing. I stood in line waiting for Nick. And he came in, and I started out pretty fast to get some speed going. I really don't know my splits, but the first lap was pretty good, but my second lap was no buneo. I died off pretty bad. And I really don't know what happened I just kinda coasted. And I just finished it in, nothing insane, or strong. Just finished it in. My time was way off of what I wanted. But our team took 11th right behind Alta, and I was 4th on the team.

Morning- WOW!! Tough work out today for sure! 2.5 mile warm up. 6x1 mile repeats with 3 minute recovery in between each one. 2 mile cool down. But goal time was 6:20. The 800 meter course loop consists of a little hill, and a lot of grass. But makes it tougher for me. Anyways. Coach wanted this as more of a progressive work out. Start out slower, and get faster as we go. So times were 6:26, 6:24, 6:19, 6:22 (I died off on this one), 6:13, and coach told us to push it in hard. And I finished it with a 5:51 last mile. I was proud of myself for this work out! I almost felt like fainting on the cool down, but I loosened up after a mile on it. And the car wash went pretty amazing today! We washed tons of cars, and eanred tons of tips! :)

Afternoon- 3 miles easy with David just around the neighborhood. It was good, but I was kinda stuggling, due to not stretching this morning. So I stretched good after this run. And it felt good. I was feeling my legs, and they feel strong!

Morning- Nice and easy 3 miles this morning. I was pretty tired this morning.

Afternoon- 1.5ish mile warm up. 3x2 mile tempo sets today on the region course. It was a progressive tempo. So each one got faster, and the 2nd mile on each one was supposed to be faster. I did arlight on the 1st one, miles were 6:28, and 6:14. 5 minute recovery between each one. It was super humid, and hot today. But the 2nd set I couldn't get myself going. First mile was 6:20, and the last one mile on this one was not solid, but 6:21. I fell of pace a lot on this one. And the last one, I just said,"go for it!". So I did. I really tried my best on this one, and hit 6:18 on 1st mile, and the 2nd mile coach ran with me, and got me going a little. And I surprisingly surged with him everytime he went faster. And the pace got faster, and faster, and faster. And I made a move with 300 meters to go, and pushed it in hard with a 5:59.58! :D That sub six made me pretty happy on that grass, and on the last set, and the last mile! I then watched the race, and some great races that came from PV today! But I ended up doing around a 3 mile cool down to get mileage in. Good work out for sure! It is building confidence! :)

Afternoon- 6 miles with striders. Today was supposed to be a recovery run, and it didn't feel like it at all. It felt like we were flying. And we were not really going that fast. I complained a little about not being a recovery, but it bascially was. We ran up foremaster, and that hill was pretty killer the last 200 meters just running up it, but good run. Striders were rather fun as well! I felt soo tired today, and sluggish. But I managed through.

Morning- Nice and solid 3 miles this morning! I felt a little better this morning, because I basically blacked out from 6:30-9:30 (p.m.) As soon as my head hit the pillow I was out. And I was then up for another hour or so. And out again for the night. My body really needed the rest. But it felt great! Plyo's were good as well.

Afternoon- 1.5 mile warm up today. And 1/1's today or 60/60's today. I struggled today, I don't know if it was due to the heat, or just feeling eh the last couple of days. But I felt like I had a pretty good work out. I was supposed to run 12 cones each one (300 meters) about. And I did 12 repeats. I was honestly dead by the 10th one today, and usually that doesn't happen till 11-13. So I don't know what is up with my body lately. But it's just feels soo beat up. During the day no energy, and just tired. I am eating, and hydrating enough. But sleep is lacking a little, so I will work on that part! 1 mile cool down. Good work! Taking some positives with this work out is: I started out faster, even the first 5. And I picked up the pace when it was slacking (taking my turn to lead), and pushed through the sluggish legs, and body! So I am oroud of myself, but today I had to use the bathroom way too many times today... It was a joke. And had weights after. Those were good.

But I took out alright. Mid pack placing. Once starting out, I was stuck there for about the first mile, and people were just passing me left, and right. But first mile 6:42. Way slower than excepted. Legs were not moving at this point, and I got pretty down on myself mentally... But there was still much too race. And I then came by the 2nd mile without knowing really at 12:32. So my pace speed up, and I really don't know what happened from here. Everything got all blurry, and the legs were tired for some odd reason... But I just kinda jogged in the race. Nothing special, just a fininsh. I did not reach even the potential I had.... It hurt a ton, but my legs were tight, and tired, but no pain at all anywhere. So that's good. I didn't feel any pain. We started at the double churches, and worked out up towards the mall section by Starbucks. And flipped it there. I love watching my turn over at night. And others, it's pretty sweet to see! But we talked a lot about life, and it was good to get some of the pressure in life, off of me, and talk openly. Thanks Abel, and Byron! :) But last 0.5 mile we had to "finish hard". And I was in front for about 30 seconds, and Byron, and Abel come by flying by, I was with them for about 30 more seconds than the gap grew a little, but not much. And just finished it in. Afternoon- After along day off school, we had a meeting with Mrs. P. And that went well. Gave me something to think about, and let me ponder my thoughts! Today was super hard for me mentally, and yet another great workout, and confidence builder. 1 mile warm up. 3/3's today. Goal distance was 888 meters. I got about 895 meters on the first one, and hit about 875 on the second and third, and 855 on the last one. But I was only able to do 4 of them. They are way harder than 1/1's. Not too meantion the wind. Holy! It was crazy today. But I thought I did good during these. And had 4x30's at "F" pace on the track (all out). And I hit 27-28's for the 200 mark every time. Last one I really had to push, and make myself go. 1 mile cool down. Amazing workout I think. And I got some motivation right now, and it's going very well! But it's a secret what it is! :)

Morning- Woke up ate at the hotel. And drove over to the race. Felt good, and ready to roll. Did a 2 mile warm up, got my spikes and went over the starting line.

Race Report- This part is where I hate. Everyone thinks the first 500 meters if the most important part and takes out at a dead sprint, so I took out pretty well. Anyways. The first 1,000 meters. This kid tripped, and got spiked a lot (he was screaming, like a bloody murder scream!) The pack slowed down a lot, and I found out why. They were jumping over him, and I got pushed over, and tripped, and basically landed on my face. I lost about 5-10 seconds on my time, due to this. And I was mad I fell! I was ticked in fact! And so I started pushing, and elbowing back to kids that pushed me over, when I caught back up to them. I then came around the first lap. Pretty tired, and started moving on the second lap. Falling made me loose a lot of placing, and timing. And the 2 mile marker was 11:00. Which was pretty good, but I wanted it to be around 10:45. So a little faster. But anyways going up the hill was killer, I was pretty tired, and about 800 meters left (a little before the hill) some kid wouldn't let me through, so I elbowed him a little, and he went with me for about 400 meters. And we started having a little elbow fiesta! It started ticking me off, and so I elbowed him back, but then he got me back twice as hard. And I just through a surge in, and never saw him again. But I was really tired, the last 200 meters. I started my kick about 400 to go, and picked up the pace, and then 50 meters left coming down home stretch, I was 4th on the team, and Nick, and Paul come flying by me, at this insane sprint. And beat me by 0.6, and 0.002...... Dang it! I was soo mad, because I got the worst seat on the ride home! >:( But I think this race was a pretty good building step in the right direction. Way better than last race at Herriman. But Live, Learn, and move on. I got spiked on my leg pretty bad, and a lot of blood was drippinp out. And we got interviewed as a team, and that was pretty cool. Team took 14th overall in the Elite Race. Pretty good day. 1 mile cool down.

Morning- Nice, and easy 3 miles by myself. I slept in to get some extra sleep in for a very stressful day.

Afternoon- After going to my sister's wedding, and taking a couple pictures. I hurried home, and changed into my uniform, and grabbed a peach, and ate that for my "Lunch". But I had to hurry my way up to Cedar, and I was driving pretty fast. But I was worried I wouldn't get there in time... But I didn't stress it. And I felt good. Got to the race with 10 minutes, before the race. I ran over to the bathroom, went potty, and then ran back to the starting line, and that was my warm up. About 0.25 miles. So not much of a warm up.... But I got to the line, feeling good.

Race Report- The gun goes off, and I took out perfect, right next to Josh T. And in the front pack, just my best start ever. And then they fired the gun again for a false start! I was ticked! But still felt like it was a stride out. But then they fired the gun again, and this start wasn't as good as my first one. I took out a little slower, and it cost me the first mile... But I felt just amazing, and kept thinking inside my head I was doing awesome. I didn't get a first mile time, but it felt pretty quick, but not as quick as it should have been. And then starting the 2nd lap. I worked my way up a ton. I was passing people left, and right. And I didn't get a 2 mile mark time.... And then before I knew it, I was on my last lap!! 800 meters to go! So I started my kick! And I worked my way up more, and then with 500 meters to go. Micah T. Once again wanted to freshmen race me, and we started bumping a little, and hitting elbows. And we were stride for stride for about 50 meters, basically sprinting, and I said outloud, "I don't think so!" I probally should have not said that to him. But it gave me this HUGE aderaline, and I took off! Not seeing him for rest of the race. As soon as I hit the track, I told myself to LIGHT IT UP!! GO catch Paul, and Kyler. They were probally 25-50 meters ahead. And I went faster, than I thought I could, and caught Kyler with 50 meters to go, and starting going for Paul (I was wanting to score). And then I finished before I knew it. And was just as happy could be! I don't know why. I felt soo awesome, feeling like I did just amazing. But it wasn't really a peak performance, in fact it was eh. But for sure a great experience! And a stepping stone in the right way for me! I P.R.ed by like almost 20 seconds. So not a lot. But since my freshmen year. I was looking at my times from this course, and I have gotten nearly 5 minutes faster! That just blows my mind by far! I think I have become a great runner, from what I started out is (last J.V. runner!). To Varsity, but it's not quite time to stop yet. I still need to keep improving, and getting faster. 1.25 mile cool down. Team took 2nd to DH 25 to 49. They beat us by 24. We got a trophy, I thought that was pretty chill. But I know I can race fast, and right when it counts! Region, and state here I come for my titles I want!

For 4 sets, but I did a 2.25 mile warm up, and I was doing pretty good. It was pitch black outside, so you couldn't see what was going on, or see anything.... But I tripped pretty bad (face planting it!), and I fell back from the boys, and I started back up. And I went pretty hard through out the whole thing. But some how I did the work out wrong... I went for 32 minutes straight.... Which it should have only been 22 minutes... But I wasn't going as hard as I should have, but going longer, did the same thing. I nearly threw up the last 30. And cool down for about a mile. Good work out, and ready for Region! :) Helped with the marathon, and that was pretty fun!

Afternoon- 0.5 mile warmp, and 1.5 mile warm up. But before our work out, we had a talk with coach, and with the team first. But pointing, and reviewing some points of running, and why we (the team) like running, and going guts out! But listening to coach gave me some positive insights that I think will help me as a team. But warmed up, and had some serious stomach cramps... But 2 mile hard, at team pace (pretty fast!). And then 1 mile hard. And the 2 mile flew by, and I hit 10:59! WOOHOO! Sub 11! :) I was pretty proud of that. But we took turns leading, and when I lead it felt good, but I think I fell off pace just a little. But not much. It felt hard, and was glad to be done with that one, I was only thinking 1 lap at a time, and that helped a ton. Had about 10 minutes, or felt like it recovery. Walked 1 lap, and chilled around for a while. And then we had that "hard mile", and it was hard, after that 2 miler. But Paul, and I worked together the whole time on this puppy! It was sweet, and it felt soo much easier pushing together, instead of alone. We took turns every 200 meters. And that made it go by faster. But I hit 5:13, and I was dead! I was drained. Good work out for sure! And not only times, but also team work! Practicing it now, so we can do it later on! 1.5 mile cool down. I struggled with the cool down a bit, and I basically died after that. Just layed on the floor for about 20 minutes. Thinking I was dead. And now Blogging! :) I am still alive!

Morning- Nice and easy 3 miles. I felt amazing this morning, because I slept 11 hours last night! And the girls ran with us for once.

Afternoon- 4 mile dogpound lopp at AT pace. It was 2.41 miles for the AT tempo. We averaged about 5:50 miles. With the first mile, and a half down hill, and then the last mile up hill. So pretty good average. I thought it was going to be like insanely hard, but it wasn't as bad as last time. But it was for sure a great push. The pack stayed together the whole time, which is great! That's what we need. :) I felt good about it, and was glad to be done with it. And then cooled down about 0.6 to finish up the run. And then ran 4x200's at F pace. And I think I was hitting about 28-27's. And Coach yelled at me to work on my lean. So I did after the first one, and I leaned actually. And I felt way smoother, and way faster. So leaning does help a lot.

Afternoon- Focused on Region all day today. That's all I could think about. I made sure to keep my self thinking about it. And I was very quiet today, because I wanted to conserve my energy, and I think I will continue to do so. Because I was just more happy in general. So.... Matt is now quiet. Starting as of now! But warmed up about 2 miles. And then got my spikes, and got to the line, and did 2 stride outs all out. Felt amazing!

Race Report- I started out pretty good, but not fast enough. I need to work on that. But there is really no time to work on that. So... At state. Almost a dead sprint, and then RACE! :) There was a pack about 20-25 guys the whole first mile, and I didn't get mile splits, but I felt quick. I was basically a straggler chasing the lead pack the whole race, but I did pick off a few other racers, and runners. But not enough.... I had basically stayed the same gap from the lead group to me, and just past the guys that died off. They all tried to go with me, but they couldn't. And the last 800 meters I was breathing really hard, and I didn't really care about my breathing, and I kicked it in pretty hard today. And I felt good about that. Pretty good race I think, atleast in effort wise. For the first time this season, I felt like crap, and dead after the race. I was all light headed, and my legs felt like jello. And during the awards I could barley stand up. I have not raced that hard in a while. But I felt good about it. I still have a ton of room for improvement. I am sad, I did not get 2 of my goal out of 4. I wanted 1) sub 17, and barley did. 2) Score for the team, and I did, but barley. 3) I wanted top 10. I didn't even flirt with it even the first 200 meters. So just take off faster. 4) I wanted to win Region as a team. But hey, I say I ran my best today, and all of us did. But it's time to look towards state, and learn and grow from this. But moving on! It's time!

Morning- 0.5 mile warm up. Normal drills, and core work. 2 mile warm up. And then 1 all out mile in trainers. I went out pretty hard. First lap 1:09, and 2nd lap 2:23 (1:14). Pace dropped a lot on this lap, and the third lap pretty much was jogging, but still felt solid. My third lap was 3:40 (1:17!!). But then I thought in my mind I could still throw down a sub 5 for sure. And I pushed it in hard. Just thinking I could throw down a 1:10 last lap. And I threw down a 1:08. So  4:48 mile . Not too shabby in trainers. Felt good about it. 2 mile cool down. Good work out.

Morning- Nice and easy 3 miles to shake out the legs.

Got to the meet really early. Got to watch the 1A boys, and girls race. And then 2A's, and our girls. And then some amazing 4A, and 5A races from the girls. Some girls are almost as fast as me in high school! But I warmed up with the team 2 miles. And got on my spikes, and I had all sorts of thoughts through my head. I was nervous, and not nervous. Just a mixture of them today. Did stride outs, and I felt great! So that's a plus.

Race Report- The gun went off! I took out fast! I was probally in the top 35ish for the first 800 meters. But I really focused on just keeping quick feet for the 1st mile, and it flew by. Running by at 5:18. I was like nice mile! Time to thrown down another one! But Going up the big hill didn't really phase me at all. But I pushed up it. And something I did this year, that I didn't do last year was I didn't go all out down hill. So I went all out on the down hills. And that helped me gain a couple seconds, and people. It was really tight still here. People were still elbowing, and pushing me. But I managed not to do too much of that. And I came by the 2 mile mark. I didn't even realize running the 2nd mile. That's how fast it went by! But the hill on the back stretch is where I made my big move, passing most of our guys (Nick, Kyler, Paul.) But I wanted them to go with me, and push the pace more. I yelled at Kyler as I passed by him. "STATE TITLE!" And that got me going harder. But I don't know about him. I really didn't yell it. It was more like a mutter.... But I was like 1 more mile Matt! Go for it! So I started picking the pace back up, and with 1,000 meters to go. I wanted to pace this Stansbury kid. He was HUGE! But I wanted to pass him, and he would not let me. I would speed up, and then he would cut me off, and he did this about 10 times. I really mean 10 times! I was about to push the kid over, because of frustation! But with 800 meters to go. Dallin from DH passed me, and then that kid. And I should have gone with him. But I didn't... That was my #2 mistake. But my #1 mistake was. I stopped trying to pass that Stansbury kid. So Dallin takes off, and I kinda go with him. And going around the pond. I could pick out 4 DHellians. Like their Jerseys. And I had to find the energy to dig deep here in the race. I went faster than I thought I could. And started my kick.  Passing one last kid, before I crossed the road, and this Bear River kid takes off flying past me! I thought he was Park City. And I thought to myself, "NO WAY!". So he was infront of me as soon as we hit the track. And then I was just dead... But out of no where I got this huge aderaline rush. And I sprinted past the kid. And coming in the last 50 (the straight away). I saw the clock ticking, 16:54, :55, :56,... And I was like! I gotta go sub 17! So I pushed as hard as I could, and got 16:59.8. I was pretty proud of my time, and place on the team, and overall. I wanted All-State soo bad (top 21), but I missed it by 1 spot... Just shows every point, or guy matters in a race.  I thought this was a really great race for me! But our team ended up taking 3rd overall in 3A. Just 6 points off Park City.... So close, but so far.... Some guys on my team struggled today, others had their best races. But I thought I did one of my better races. And I was happy with what our team as done this season, and all we have accomplished. It doesn't just come to us. You gotta work for things. 2nd at Region, and 3rd at state on a half-off day for the team. I think that's pretty dang good! I would like to thank my team for all the cheering, and supporting they did. It really helps! :) Thanks Coach Trevor, Coach Holt, and Coach Robs for all you do. I am very grateful for you guys. And then I worked my way up with the pack with Paul, Andrew, and Reed. But then the 2 mile split was 11:22. Not very good 2 mile split. My 2nd mile was not too good. But the last mile I really tried to make up some ground. And I pushed my way up more, making move. And with 400 meters to go. I passed quite a few guys. And I felt good about my finish. And I felt great after. I ran the same time as last year, but placed way worse overall. And the thought kept coming back to my head. And it cost me the last 800ish meters left of the race. I was trying to push the pace, but kept on staying the same speed. Colton came up to me on the last 300 meters, and he started surging away, but I thought to myself that he wasn't getting away this time. And my body responsed, and went with him. I finished it strong. And thought I killed it, but turns out my time was way slower this year, than last year... But I wanna blame the mud, but it didn't slow me down that much. I just didn't try my hardest I guess... This is my last XC race ever in high school. Kinda sad to end it on a bad note. But during track I am going to kill it! I am looking forward to track now!

Sounds like this was more mental than physical. So much of racing is. I can see why you like track, you seem to enjoy the mental aspect of pushing yourself. I hope you do well. Keep learning about yourself. Mile splits of 5:15, 5:27, 5:41. If you go 5:30, 5:30, 5:15, you improve by 25 seconds and 79 places! It's not what you do in the 1st mile, it's the last mile that counts, and you have to conserve in the 1st mile to have it in the last mile.

Afternoon- Went up to Green Springs on my bike. And it was only 6.75 miles round trip, but half of it up hill. So it was a work out for my thighs. Going up the Green Springs park was terrible, and hard core at the same time. But going back home was easier, because it's all down hill. And then the Fire Station hill almost killed me, my legs were on fire going up that! But then came home, and walked about 200 meters to shake out the legs from the small ride. The end.

Afternoon- After, working 5 hours today, and recovery from that. I finally got out to hike with Pugs, Josh F., and Abel up to Mount Snibe Knibe. And it was fun, we found all kinds of stuff up there. We found a geocashe, a fox, and a cave. And the hike was 1.75 miles. I walked 1 mile before we started that, and then did a quick 11 minute bike ride, actually 2 mile bike ride. :) And then did another core work out. Just trying to stay in some-what-shape for now.

Afternoon- 20 minutes on the excercise bike went 4.5 miles. And then 26:36 on my real bike with hills. And went 4.6 miles on that. So just a little relaxed day with some core stuff. Happy Thanksgiving!! :)

Morning- 3 miles on the bike with some push ups, and sit ups.

Afternoon- 3.65 miles on the bike, while the team warmed up, and then did a lot of core stuff with them. I broke my Planking P.R., and our XC team Record. I got 7:18.96! :) But lower back, sides, and abs killed after. It took me like 10 minutes to stand up without hurting. But then I did 25 push ups waiting for the time. And then I timed them for their 800 all out. And then I went back to the bike, and did another 2.6 miles, before the guys yelled at me to time one of their 300's. And I timed that. Then while they recovered, I hurry and did a quick 2 miles on the bike. And then timed their last one. So I did a lot of short bursts of biking today.

Afternoon- After working, I decided to drag David out with me to go hiking in the snow. We went down into Hell's Hole. And It was really white down there. In fact thats all you could see. And there was tons of fog, and it was freezing. But David kept throwing snowballs at me! Anyways... We went about 2.5-3 miles round trip. And a lot of it was uphill. But after that I went the exercise bike, and did 3x1 minute hard (level 8, highest setting). With 1 minute recovery, and I did that so I went for 6 minutes, and then just rode another 5 minutes. So 11 minutes on that. The End.

Morning- 4 miles on the turtle trail with Andrew, Paul, Colton, Josh F., David, Byron, and I. Good run. Even though it was pretty chilly at 8 in the morning. It was 27 degrees! But we had a good run. No one really talked, because we were going super fast up the hills. And on the way back. It felt soo easy, even though we going faster on this part than the start. This shows I am truely out of shape once again! But I will become a great runner once again! And after the run, we stretched for a while. And then Colton, Andrew, and I helped with David's eagle project. And that was sweet. And then!! I drove Andrew home, and we were listening to the radio full blast, because Andrew wanted to listen to it. And guess what song came on? That's right, "Recking Ball"..... So Andrew was like ,"YEAH!! Keep it!! Turn it up!" So we listened to that on the way to his house. The End. True story too.
